What was anti Cuban in that post? Reading comprehension can’t be a strong suit
String suit is understanding the racist Anti-Cuban posts some of you are putting on here. And by the way, Mr.954 is not from the 305. I am not going to get into an intellectual squabble with you but clearly some of the posts represent an attitude that is considered offensive, myself included.

White people think we're brown. Black people think we're white, but both of them think we're Mexican.

I never said all. That's what you want to read. I was referring to the kids that I taught and others with the victim mindset. I would never said everyone because of my co-workers and other black people that I've worked with through the years.

Most poor people whether white, black, hispanic, etc have a victim mindset. That statement I will own 100%, but no way did I say, or will I say the all black people have a victim mindset. It makes no sense. I've had too many business and personal relationships with black people to believe that.

You think that generation didn't fight back? You know the most obvious one. Bay of Pigs. You'll be hard pressed to find one Cuban male from that generation that didn't spend time in jail. My neighbor growing up is alive because the gun they pointed at his head jammed. Cuba is a third world country with a large poor class. It was easy to convince the masses. The ones that came here didn't believe Castro's bull****, but he turned the masses loose on those that opposed him. There's a line between bravery and being suicidal. You have to know sometimes when you have to retreat.

Over 24,000 Cubans died at the hands of Casto’s jails or firing squads. They were fighting the Soviets also. So the statements by that clown are imbecilic at best. The fact Cubans have done well in this Country is a testament to hard work, family focus etc... by the way, the leader of Brigade 2506 was a Black Cuban who later served in the US Army. These three posting clowns are just reverse racists.

I am definately disappointed by the blatant anti Cuban comments coming from some posters here. We have people who out of one side of their mouth demand people recognize the tribulations black Americans have to endure (which I don’t dispute) then turn around and **** on another ethnic group. Pretty lame.

You can tell who from Miami and who not, alot of people dont know the history of Miami, and the riots, when diaz pops was mayor siding with the crooked cops. People want to act like luke just popped up, that man like many of us in Miami knew and know how racist the UM administration was, and if people were smart, they'd realize when the downfall of the football program began, when the female version of tad foote took over in troll shalala. They didnt give shannon the necessary support but opened the doors to some penn disgrace outsiders, and shannon outcoached and out recruited those morons. Than after coach shannons best year, they start slow draggin that man on a raise, they never wanted coach shannon to succeed, they only wanted him for obvious reasons.

Alot of people on here keep crying about alot of the top players leaving South Florida, if they had a clue they'd know, you'd be way better off having luke as an ally. Alot of people are real clueless on who luke is and how Miami even started winning national championships, if people want to believe it was just schnelly, no, schnelly was smart enuff to listen and saw the light, he didnt just barge his way into Liberty City, that **** had to get escorted in, and how do alot of yall think that happened. Keep thinking luke is irrelevant if yall want too, Bama and UGA will keep racking up. Coach richt said to **** with all the recruiting politics, now we'll see how coach diaz deals with alumni as well, cause he cant avoid Dade County! He wont be held accountable for the sins of his father but coach rumph better be on staff!

Way before Puke was around I was playing the old computerized football games with Pat Walker, Lester Williams (rest in peace), Rodney Bellinger etc... Cane football
Was based on Puke. Puke joined the band wagon as we started to win to help
Market his lame ***. His wife is an agent, nice lady, but he is not key to Canes success.

Luke didn't create racism. He's just speaking on a reality that exists. Whether some want to acknowledge it or not.

Welcome to Miami.
And apparently racism can work both ways by reading this site it’s confirmed.

EXACTLY!!!

But it’s “racist” to counteract this by *verbally* calling for the inclusion and representation of THE community that resurrected this football program and brought it to prominence despite its administration. We’ve watched other ethnicities build their own segregated neighborhoods, pool resources, hire their own first, gentrify, redline, and just socially, economically and politically stick together but when a Israelite/“black” man calls for the betterment of the collective, not individuals (not even does it, just calls for it), it’s deemed to be “racist”.

The East Indian, Asian, and Arab immigrant communities own every gas station, grocery, hair, check cashing, fast food, and corner store in the hood and we proudly and openly patronize their businesses and essentially put their children and grandchildren through college while they sell us our vices (needed due to the theft of our true identity). Then at 8pm they pull the steel shutters down and jumped on the nearest freeway entrance to live in the communities we are not accepted. So there is no more tolerant, accepting, welcoming, forgiving, and non-racist community than the black community. These immigrant businesses wouldn’t last a week if they were established where they actual reside.

All of this lack of power, influence, infrastructure, ownership, subsidies, and ethnic unity and y’all are audacious enough to even expect a black man not to *ask* or advocate representation. Everyone is allowed and applauded on being a man except us. Y’all see and acknowledge diversity in personality types with each other but only accept and tolerate ONE kind of black man. He must be docile, palatable, have your same vices, and never ever talk about his people in advocacy of them as a collective. We are only accepted to advance as individuals. Y’all can be alpha or beta male, conservative or liberal and that’s cool. But not Us. Only “cool” black posters here are the ones who see a microaggressive thread like this and steer very clear. We all have to be betas and y’all have a problem with Luke’s audacity to be the alpha that y’all absolutely love in your own race.

I’ll be damned if we don’t own or at the least are “allowed” to have an influence over our own children. Y’all don’t have free reign, it’s time y’all non-racists begin to accept diversity in black men, namely as Alphas.
Not a bad post but what do you attribute the attitude to? Does family structure etc.... have any impact on this reality?

All American wars were also turned by the involvement of Black American troops who after every war including the Civil and World Wars came home to be called ni$@ers and subjected to the same economic disenfranchisement and over policing. Allowing Black people to fight for you is not an indicator of not suffering from colorism or being a white supremacist. I know a Black Cuban was on the frontlines, that’s how it always goes.

Yes the #1 mission and goal of white supremacy and slavery was to break up the black family and erase our identity. If you do these two things to a people they will enslave themselves mentally and commercialism will be their identity. Whatever u sell them will be their default self-esteem and the determinant of their self-worth/value. Open open and open to exploitation of opportunists over and over again.

This post dismisses the entire history of African Americans in the U.S. and in Miami specifically. Normally I come to Canesinsight for jokes and fun, but this needs to be addressed or I'd by dishonoring those who came before me.
If you think the history of black Miamians was one of silver spoons and excuse making, your history teacher failed you.

This reminds me of my uncle who graduated from Booker T. Washington HS in the 50s, talking about how they accepted some of that first wave of Cubans into their school, all while not being able to attend the white schools that were also accepting Cuban students.

Black people in Miami have had to bend over backwards and have still been disrespected and disenfranchised from the beginning.

African Americans and Bahamian Americans were literally forced to vote to incorporate the City of Miami at its founding (100 of the 502 voters were black) and yet, though Miami wouldn't be a city without their votes, were forced through restrictive land deeds and actual violence to go back over to "Colored Town" (modern-day Overtown) without enjoying any of the fruits of their labor. Black people had to deal with a mayor of the city of Miami who was (and it wasn't a secret) a Klansman.

My great grandfather was one of the underwater divers who helped in the construction of the bridge to Key West.
My great grandmother founded the first black hospital in Broward County, Provident Hospital in Fort Lauderdale, because those black people "born with a silver spoon in your mouth" weren't admitted into many of your favorite local hospitals even if they were literally dying. My grandfather was on the fundraising board for Memorial Hospital to be built in the 50s and when it opened, my mother, his black daughter still had to be born at that black hospital because they initially wouldn't admit black people.

That same grandfather had block buildings burned down because "a ****** shouldn't have that kind of business on that side of the tracks", only to call the police and find that some of the officers were involved in the burning of the building (if you want one of many examples of why black people are wary of the cops, there's hundreds more). You think black people like me and mine don't have some businesses because we just couldn't think of entrepreneurial ideas like everybody else? Or we were just lazy? Maybe, just maybe, they met the kind of resistance that some ungrateful people from elsewhere who came after them couldn't even fathom or want to be in denial about.

We couldn't even use the freakin beach because white people wouldn't allow us to touch the same water as them.
The audacity of someone who came from an oppressive regime, like that in Cuba or anywhere else for that matter, to come here and tell black people to essentially "suck it up" without acknowledging that THIS place has been our "oppressive regime". Some of the same horror stories you can tell about life in Cuba, I can recount from a black person about life right here. And unlike people coming from elsewhere we've had no America to flee to.

Your "came here with nothing" also came along with a clean slate. You started from zero. Black people in South Florida have been starting from -12 since the moment people like my great great grandfather escaped a slave plantation in the south to hide with the Seminoles. Or my grandmother escaping sharecropping in Alabama to come work in white people's houses on Hollywood beach, not just cleaning, often helping raise their white kids, for next to nothing. Thinking that black people are lazy and whiny excuse-makers is a slap in the face to an entire community who have put up with more than you can even imagine or want to.

African Americans and Bahamian Americans protesting and marching for their civil rights in South Florida is part of the reason some of you other people of color can even live and play in some of the (formerly white-only) neighborhoods and establishments you sit in today and disrespect us. There are local black people you don't acknowledge who died or had their lives ruined to open doors for some of the same people who say "You were born with a silver spoon in your mouth".

Being proud of yourself and your people is great. You all have went through alot. But get all the way outta here with your assumption that you're the only ones to be oppressed or that black people are just lazy, excuse makers or that we don't have legitimate reason to be miffed about how we've been treated in South Florida since its inception. Maybe learn a little more about your fellow Miamians and South Floridians, why they are in the position they're in and what forces have prevented them from changing those positions before being rude and condescending and playing the "Prejudice Greatest Hits".

Do better. Now I'm going back to making jokes about Lawrence Cager's hands and J-Lo coaching "tight ends". Good day.
Thank you thank you thank you 🙏🏾 and your Honorable family and ancestors for their sacrifices and valar amidst impossible circumstances, hatred and evil! Your family are American Heroes

You know why "white supremacy" didn't keep y'all down, because y'all are white.

And miss me with that bull$h!t story about what your black colleagues told you...if that's what you meant when you said all black people don't have work ethic, then you would've said that in the first place. So don't throw stones and hide ya' hands now.

And BTW, if Cubans had such non-victim mentalities, then WTF didn't y'all stay in Cuba and fight Castro?
Already answered it racist

#2 was to destroy wealth and make wealth accumulation really difficult.

Is it a competition? I remember the 80s. Our white neighbors were unhappy to have us move in next to them. After church, when I was 9, we were kicked out of a dinner cause they didn’t serve Cubans.

Does that mean Cubans had it as bad a blacks? No. Does it mean I’ve had a little taste of oppression. Yeah. Living outside of Miami I’ve experienced more of it. It’s why I think this Cuban vs Black think is not what we need. Canes winning brings Miami together as a community and that’s a good thing (even with a QB from Orinda).
I grew up in West Hialeah and in 1970 the neighbor kids took all the Christmas lights and bombed us with it and yelled “Spics go home!” My mother and two sisters were terrorized. Not until my father came home from one of his two jobs after 10 pm did the police come by. Next day the Hialeah police knocked on the neighbors door and the old
Man said “it was the **** kids”. The cops made them pick up the glass shards. Hialeah 1970 but nobody realizes that things like that happened.

I was playing with one Saturday morning and a police officer walked house to house places anti-Cuban flyers in everyone’s mailboxes. This was early 80s.

That is unfortunate and I am sorry you had to go through that, but I would take that any day over what happens in black neighborhoods TODAY.
