Keep in mind that the same sharts who think Folden is doing a great job are the ones hiring the next president. That should instill tons of confidence in everyone that the next president will be a real football-friendly individual.

And the same ones who keep striking out with HC hires. I'm not sure they'll ever get anything right.

Just pray it IS the Admiral...and not some William and Mary puke. Don't think this guy will tolerate mediocrity in ANY aspect of the university. Type of person we have needed since forever.

An Admiral who was a political hack and yes man for the Clinton's must be the answer! We did so well with the last Clinton hack as president, right?

@The Dude: There are four finalists. He's one of them. I talked to three professors in two different departments and two board members who feel that Stavridis is going to get the job. So I can't give you an actual percentage but that's where I heard this from so I would be at least confident. The other candidates have a lot of support but I think Stavridis will get the job.

@BigCaneAl: No problem. I would expect an announcement to be coming at the end of March or maybe just a little later. They aren't going to want to hire a president so late that he or she can't scramble their resources/money/best academic minds for the following year.

@Bigtip: He will be, by default, a vast improvement over Shalala. Career military man or not, he apparently fosters a very family atmosphere at Tufts where he gives employees enough rope to be themselves and active while being an effective leader. Every Tufts person has good things to say about him.

As far as football goes, his parents were season ticket holders. There seems to be some pre-existing relationship with Butch and even if Butch isn't on his mind, winning Miami football is at least known to him. He does not seem to be the type to settle for mediocrity.

respectfully, so no real hard information other than just some hearsay and guessing.

Last I heard is there were four finalists. No names mentioned. They still have not made a decision though from what I've heard.

I've heard this as well, but the person I talked to who is close with a prominent member of the search committee was pretty convinced it's going to Stavridis

Let's all pray for an accident. Maybe they will make a mistake and hire a real coach.

Hush. Keep that stuff secret. If they find out he likes football it could cost him the spot.

He'd have to be deaf, dumb, and blind to not be very aware of what Butch is capable of - and I've never seen any General or Admiral who likes to lose.

A good commander lets his own commanders command. I'd say Butch is looking better and better as our next coach.

LMAO that's true

It's Stavridis. He's already meeting with Donna today and enjoying a mojito.
