Positive outlook on the season

What many of you so-called Canes fans don't get is that you can root for the Canes while at the same time consider Golden sub-optimal. I really like the kids on this team and would never root against my Canes.

Face it - Golden and his crew are going to coach the team this season - like it or not - and if you are a fan, you get behind the team. If they have a bad season, then we demand changes at the end of the season, but to endlessly whine about how poor our coaches are, etc, will only hurt the team we love.

To some people, maybe they do but to me, I compare it to, say for example, your spouse cheated on you. Hmmm - So Golden underperforming is the same as if your wife cheated on you?? That is a bit non-sensical. If she cheated on you, I am sure you would leave her. Then leave the Canes, I guess...?

My point is that since I do not have the power to fire Golden and hire a new coach, I will forget my dislike for him for now - at least at the beginning of the season - and get behind the team. I would love him to prove me wrong and have a kick *** season - wouldn't you?

It's an analogy, albeit not a perfect one. In that analogy, I would want my spouse not to cheat on me anymore either but as I said, history repeats itself

The post was well thought out and a legitimate opinion was given. What high jacks post like this and sends them into irrevelance is when you attempt to assume motive. "Love Golden"? He never said that but even if he did so be it. It's a point of view. My interpretation is that he Loves the U and like all of us is searching for reasons to be encouraged. Here's mine. This staff has worked harder then any staff on record to build a competetive roster. It would be hard to bet that this year will be successful enough for there not to be a change but the greatest possible benefit for the U would be that they would succeed. I hope they do and that doesn't make me a Golden lover.

And then when another sub-par season comes through, and no staff changes are made. Are you going to make that same comment in August 2016? To 'get behind the team bc the staff isn't going anywhere this year'?

A lot of people, and rightly so, have already crossed that line. I hope many on here don't give up their convictions so easily in other aspects of their lives in a way that so many do on here in regards to their disapproval with Golden & Co. but blind loyalty to all things Canes.

Ehhhh best QB in the ACC? I don't think that would be accurate. I think he will be and he was outstanding for a freshmen but I wouldn't say he was the best last year. Top 3, yes. And I fully agree with the rest of your post. He is a cancer to this program, the same cancer as Donna and Blake. I will always be a diehard fan, born in Homestead and turned down a baseball scholarship there way back in 2000 (too expensive and baseball doesn't give full scholarships) and I will watch every game not to be hopeful but to watch the program as we know it get burnt to the ground (hopefully) and rebuilt by hopefully what amounts to be a new AD and coach.

the term "does less with more" has never been more true with Alfredo Foldin'. Now imagine if someone like Cutcliffe had the 2014 Canes team at his disposal....this guy buit a double digit winning program with 2 star talent across the roster. We probably would've made the playoff with Cutcliffe.

I used those two records because 10 wins is probably unrealistic and 7 wins probably does get him fired.

It's 10 wins and beating FSU or bust. He hasn't earned the right to be here and should have to actually accomplish something worthwhile for the first time in his coaching career. Winning 9 games shouldn't ever be enough for a coach in his fifth year at Miami.

Actually Deshaun Watson led the ACC in Passer Rating as well as Justin Thomas (although I don't really count Justin Thomas because of that offense) and the same two guys had better Yards per Pass as well. Now I wouldn't even come close to trying to say that Justin Thomas was a better QB last year but it would be debatable between Watson, Winston, Williams, and Kaaya. Even though our bias would still never admit Kaaya wasn't the best QB in the ACC last year. I still think he was top 3, this year it will be a toss up between Kaaya and Watson IMO.

Watson padded stats against some horrible defenses and only played about 6 games. He will have to play a full season and against legit defense for me to think he is clear cut better than kaaya.

Brock...You and many know I fuggin hate AG with a passion that compares to nothing else. I rarely agree with you. But this post was well thought out.

The only thing I disagree with is the suggestion that AG/this team has a chance to win big. It has NEVER been the talent or players. Its is coaching. AG cannot and will not ever win anything. The guy has never won anything yet walks around thinking that he is the smartest fuggin guy in the room. He is a fraud and I cannot wait for him and his band of fudge packers to get the fug out of SF.

Here is to no one getting injured, to no one having their Redshirt burned unnecessarily and to us having a great coach come 2016. I hate it for the seniors and the rest of the team. They deserve to learn from a real winner...not this fake car salesman

At the end of the day, you can throw numbers out, send pizzas to the guys house, talk about how he squandered all that NFL talent, talk about how the 3-4 system has ruined our defensive identity, talk about how much Dno is his butt buddy, talk about how much Paul Williams is hated, talk about how Al is a fat bum, talk about how Shalala was the reason he was fired, talk about how Blake James is a puppet, etc, etc, etc,....
