I don’t think it has anything to do with that. I think MNW feels that their program is disrespected when comparing it to private schools such as STA, Cardinal Gibbons, Chaminade, etc. It has nothing to do with the SEC but more so around the local media members and how they cover private schools compared to predominantly black public schools. MNW feels they are just as accomplished as STA but may not receive the same respect as those private schools. MNW may feel that they are being disrespected because they are just as accomplished. I see it as a local journalist issue.

I don’t know how everything went down but it sounds like whoever called for Ivins to be escorted felt he did not have permission to be on the sideline. It appears that since Ivins had no luck with the AD responding to his inquiries he just showed up on the sideline (still invited but no permission to be on the sideline). It was an dispute between Ivin and MNW admin.

I really don’t see how the SEC plays into this. I think if one of their writers had a similar interaction with MNW it would have went down the same way.
Sounds like an inferiority complex. The only people disrespecting the South Florida public schools are the kids and the leech handlers who get the kids transferring from the public schools to the private schools.

Just lost respect for Ivins.

If you don't get a response from management, then you approach your coach contact(s) until you do. They should be able to put you in contact with someone that can help get you proper access.

Ivins, by taking the approach he has comes off very amateurish. Taking to Twitter just compounds the situation.

Yeah I could see why Ivins was in the wrong for attending an open scrimmage where he was invited by the coaches.

Perhaps MNW is ****ed the big recruiting sites don't pump their kids up enough.

Was the Georgia 247 and Rivals guys kicked out? They probably had the correct credentials too stay.

Maybe this is a Miami thing. The fact of the matter. Every since Miami cleaned house in the 2008 class at MNW. Miami has signed 1 MNW kid. That was ranked in the top 50 in the state of Florida. 10 young men from MNW have been ranked in the top 50 in the state. Artie Burns is the only one to sign here.

Ivins was dumb for taking the bait. Said something really stupid but what he said. Seems too trump the racist pos that baited him.

Had this been a school in bama or Georgia. Had the whitey coaches said to a black reporter. "You're just an uppity black guy" Best believe this would be a big *** story. A 100 page thread would be ongoing on here. Had the black reporter said anything like Ivins said. It would get a small amount of attention, if any.

MNW hasn't been a feeder school for us in a long time. If they want their kids to have higher rankings. Perhaps they should get in the arms race in south Florida and take the better talent from other schools.

one of the Rivals guys got tossed, too.

Crazy to hear man. Wonder why there is so much backlash towards the media there.
It's all good. I don't know what the deal with the administration is there. Both me and the guy from Rivals were just told to leave by the AD and principal. Sucks because they have a ton of talented underclassmen and kids the network really needed to see in pads (from Ivins)

That could be the case. I personally don’t believe that kids need to transfer like they do but that’s a deeper issue. From my observation that’s how I interpret that coach’s comments.

I didn't read everything posted before posting this but I'll say this. This is a ****ing contest between adults who aren't putting the kids first but y'all are crazy if you think this will dim the spotlight shined on the West by the college football recruiting world. For at least the last 40 years, every college coach worth their weight in horse **** knows the West's address and the type of talent available there virtually every class. That will not change because of a "beef" with Ivins....

Da warden dude is a cane fan and likely on this board....but these dudes if u follow them have wayyyy to big ego's and thoughts about themselves. This social media sh*t is a drug to these clowns.

Grown *** man calling dude a "goofy". Bih you aint from chicago sit your *** down somewhere.

Ivins was all the way in the wrong with the post about not giving a glowing review.

MNW was in the wrong for escorting a dude out of an open scrimmage..like wtf kind of power struggle they got going on. They seem to just have a personal issue with IVINS.
Unrelated to the Ivins/West beef, I HATE to hear South Floridians saying goofy, oops, etc. That **** burns me up, we don't follow trends from other parts of the country, we set trends. Nunna these kids and especially people in our age ain't grow up saying that ****...

Maybe I missed it but where did Ivins say he tried to get credentials for the spring game? He posted that he tried to contact the AD all year but never received a response. From that I take it as since he received no response he took it upon himself to show up on the sidelines. Yes he was invited to the scrimmage but he didn’t have the credentials to be on the sideline. That’s what I took from it.

He talked about being black balled for all of last season...

You can’t tell me he hasn’t tried multiple times to get credentials so he can record and post for 247... don’t be so foolish... his job depends on covering not only Miami recruiting but also tipping off other reporters of schools who need “catch up notes” when a player commits to their school

Let’s be honest if a reporter ever got black balled at MNW, central, STA, etc they wouldn’t have a job anymore.. what use would they have??

I have a friend I'd like you to meet. His name is Larry Bluestein, he was at the very same scrimmage. Also, Coach Fields was a former head coach at Northwestern and he doesn't look very similar to Ice Harris if you ask me, seems to have a lot of respect. Go ahead and take your "MNW is racist" agenda somewhere else.

We should also point out that a minority community not allowing a white reporter to watch a football game isn’t racism.

It’s a bad equivalency to act like racism isn’t more than prejudice among races and not a system that oppresses black people to this day.

Two grown men acting like children publicly in front of the players they’re supposed to turn into men. Just a sad situation all around. The best course of action would be for the MNW administration to broker a mutual apology and reconciliation, and institute a specific protocol for media access going forward.

I think the coach needs to go through social media training. He’s representing the school without the authority to do so. He may be a great guy and have his heart in the right place, but he’s let his anger and ego get the best of him. Needs a IG time out.

Good idea except for the last part. Someone at NE needs to answer when journalist request passes to visit.
