How can you say it is dead when both fighters made well over a 100 million. What dead sport or alive sport for that matter can make that much money in such a short period of time?

Because the PPV numbers keep dropping. Other than Floyd Mayweather, name another fight that grosses a 1/4 his paycheck...the biggest legitimate boxing fight this year is going to be Canelo v. triple G and the grossing isn't going to be even close to Mayweather v. Mcgregor.

idiot who are the ufc stars?

ya'll made a hypejob ronda rousey your biggest star and she was a joke

and your boy jon jones is a drug cheat

even ufc had some freakshow wrestlers as heavyweight champs

The UFC stars? All of these guys are legit stars with title fights coming up in the future because they're sweeping through their division in fashion, champions, or guys who are always in the title picture. The weakest division we have is the Women's though which when it first began had little talent and hence led to Rhonda Rousey

It's dead. It went into cardiac distress over ****ty score cards, it died when the heavyweight division went to ****, and all revival efforts seized after the Mayweather v. pacquiao fight. If you had a boxing history IQ over room temperature you would know that.

U always know who you're dealing with when a dude still cites the IQ test as legitimate measure of someone's intelligence when it's been proving numerous times to be culturally biased and not a sufficient indicator of intelligence at all lol! Instant credibility loss whenever I see it. As far as the other sourgrapes drivel U wrote about boxing, I just smashed that crap in the previous post.

To say boxing is dead or will die soon is an exaggeration. Boxing will likely never be what it once was, and it obviously has many issues. But as Mayweather has shown, all there needs to be is one big name to carry the sport. It is silly that MMA fans always feel like they need to tell everyone that boxing is dead. Do you want it die? Do you not want to see world class fighters box? It's like not only do you guys think boxing is dying, but you want it die, which doesn't make sense to me. If you want it to die, just don't tune in.

That's the thing, it started dying while he carried the sport. People don't want to see a 5'8 twig dance around the ring and not get hit. They wanna see Tyson v. Holyfield or Ali v. Frazier not some guy to dodge pacquiao, run around the ring so PAC can't touch him and let the commission can crown their champion again. It started with the score cards, I remember watching Teddy Atlas as a kid on ESPN ranting about the scorecards and he was always right, and then the heavyweights died off. If that heavyweight division can somehow come to life, boxing would stop losing PPV numbers.

McGregor's best payday in the UFC was in the Nate Diaz rematch at UFC 202. He made $3 mil. Nate made $2 mil. And it was the biggest payday in UFC/MMA history. Early reports indicate McGregor just made approximately $100 mil boxing Floyd. Hard to say boxing is dead when that kind of money is still there.

Edit: Actually, McGregor made a little more fighting Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205.

Name a boxer who's not in the back end of his career that's a household name?

Because they want to see him lose, that's the only reason they watch him fight. If you think those numbers were big, imagine if he fought triple G and people didn't view it as a scam of sorts? They want to see Floyd get his chit pushed in...Canelo v. GGG is the biggest legit boxing fight of the year, watch the PPV buys on it. Floyd left, there's no cash cow Super Villian anymore.

Make up your mind? First you say people don't want to see him, then you say people want to see him just because people want him to lose. You can't have it both ways.

I did make up my mind but you aren't understanding the concept. If Floyd wasn't Floyd, they wouldn't watch him fight. They buy his PPV to see him get his face smashed. If it was anybody else who fought the same style, nobody would watch.

What do you consider big? Oscar De La Hoya had some big pay days in the mid 90s and early 2000s. Tyson obviously did. Mosley and Pac had a purse of $75 million. Roy Jones Jr., Lenox Lewis, Holyfield.

For example, in 2003 Roy Jones Jr got a guaranteed $10 million for fighting Ruiz, I think he ended up getting even more. According to No Fly Zone, McGreggor was getting $2 million for his biggest fights. Especially, if you account for inflation, these boxers in the mid 90s and early 2000s that you claim were not having big money fights, were actually making way way way more than the biggest names in UFC currently make.

I have nothing against MMA, it is fast growing sport and might one day surpass boxing, but I just don't think it is there yet.

No, that is what I'm claiming. There was multiple dudes that would get other fighters huge purses for fighting them and it would be competitive, it wasn't just one guy and that one guy was almost guaranteed to win by decision because the commission protected him.

Scrambling? Lol look you racist, how about you get off him and realize he's hated because of the way he fights. The fans don't hate Ali, they don't hate Tyson, they don't hate Roberto Duran, they don't hate Evander Holyfield, they don't hate Oscar de la Hoya, they don't hate Roy Mercer, they don't hate Sugar Ray, they don't hate Pacquiao..etc. They hate him because he "boxed" instead of fighting, he ran his entire career and then has the audacity to say he was the best. Not everything is black v. White and if you believe that then you're the definition of the problem in America, if you keep believing the way you believe then you'll never achieve anything because you already have an excuse and when you have an excuse, you already set yourself up for failure. My family came here with absolutely nothing from Cuba, not even with their degrees and they are living happy retirements with their homes fully paid off. You are your own oppresser this day and age, I go to college almost for free because of my ethnicity while my white friends all have loans to pay off...there's no excuse anymore....there isn't any kind of white privilege, you either put the work in or you don't. Stop with your race bating chit, it annoys everyone on this board. Keep your Zbroad comments to yourself because the only person that sounds like a broad around here is you. Read the bottom quote, "You are confined only by the walls you build yourself".
