Facts man with this portal era it's best to never ever burn bridges and always respect people with class because they might transfer back to you in a year

I have no idea of any alleged off field stuff but I assumed if he jumped in the portal he already had his next spot pretty well lined up. Guess not.
 
I remember one solid play from him last year where he ran sideline to sideline and trucked the ball carrier. Was either FAMU or Ball State. Either way, I was expecting more good things to come and it just never happened.

I figured he would struggle a little in pass coverage as a true freshman, but didn’t think he would be that awful. He was totally lost on every pass play. Yes, our whole secondary was garbage, minus OJ, but Zaquan looked like he never played organized football before. I do blame Guidry for most of the defense struggles. Can a new DC, DB, and safety’s coach turn him around? I don’t know.

What grade was he in? I can name a bunch of players who were lost as freshman. Thomas is an ok safety and Poyser is very good. Williams had a nice spring. Really wish we had one more kid that could play safety. Sucks about the houston kid but 2 million for a safety in the portal era is about as stupid as Jerry jones paying Zeke the money he did. Unless they are Caleb downs I’m not doing that.

Im the only one that coached him on here or even seen him live and i pretty much said this throughout his recruitment.
Hes better moving forward. He can cover but he wants to mix it up. Hes better closer to the line.

I havent spoken to him or my folks around him but id think ge wouod want tonstay hes only a freshman and can be coached up honestly.

Im going all the safeties a blank grade with their coach being canned..now the off the field stuff like late to meetings or missing em i cant speak on but if he can come back head down an woth s&c he can reach a ceiling here as a possible two year starter or definite rotational guy.

Someone else stated it but zayquan game is similar to the thomas kid we just signed. His build is even similar as a kid that with s&c could be a 6'1 200 pd tackler. The single high safety stuff i dont think he ever did it in high school n in youth ball he played wr and de woth spot safety work. Cj ewald was our safety then lol

Harris and Hill had to move on and they did. The remaining returning DBs deserve a second chance, especially Zay who as you said is a second year kid. And unlike DE, where Rudolph was the odd-man out among a handful of similar players, we really need box safeties. Win/win. Hope he returns.

Well clearly Ny Carr didn't. There was a lot of buzz for Patterson to UF but that died down. Not sure why, especially with Greg Smith in the portal. I guess there wasn't the market he was expecting.
