On Mohamed Toure...

If Aguirre is 3rd, woof.

Pruitt jumps him sooner rather than later imo.
Is it better if Popo is 1st/2nd or 5th/6th to you?...

To me it's a pretty great sign if he's like 5th. I think he's likely a solid player. Same with Bonner. But if he's beat out it'd likely mean Wiley and Pruitt have over taken him at minimum. Toure is about health mostly. If he's healthy it'd be shocking for him not to be a top 3 LB in the rotation. Just hopefully Wes knows the playbook and what he's supposed to do pre-snap as a Senior.

I don't remember saying that but I would agree. I think Toure and Pruitt will be our best with Bonner and Wiley coming on towards the end. Popo will be solid.

Why Bonner coming on towards the end? He'll play early and I expect him to be switching up with Wes a lot. Alderman and Chase are still on roster, too.

IMO, we are now very deep with good ACC-grade players. But only Toure and Wiley are a step above. Need Wiley to develop quickly.

Just a hunch on Bonner. He could play early but I suspect Pruitt gets that role of platooning with Wes. I mentioned Chase in previous post as one of our top 5 this year. Not a huge fan of Alderman. Adarius Hayes has talent but who knows where his head is at now. I don't see Marcellin sticking around too long. He's not the type Hetherman likes in his scheme but who knows?

Jokes aside and I've said this a few times now but it bears repeating, if Toure really is the player he was pre-injuries (and yes, I realize this is a big "if" and probably not incredibly likely), it unlocks a higher ceiling for this defense. He is (was?) that good, a legitimate all-conference type player, and would MASSIVELY help this defense.

Remember, he didn't play at all in 2022, what would have been his junior season. He started to play very well in 2021 and was going to be a big contributor for them in 2022, but he got hurt. Rehabbed and came back in 2023, and was eased into action. But by the end of the year, he was a force again. 8 tackles, a sack, and a pick against taint in early November. 10 tackles the next week. Six more and a TFL against Pedo State. Season high in tackles in the season finale. And then wrecked our **** in the bowl game. Ranked 12th in the Big 10 in tackles per game coming off an injury.

Then misses all of 2024 after another injury.

But if he can be the player here that he was in the 2nd half of 2023, we are COOKING. Having a kid like this in the middle would be a massive, massive boost for this defense.

We deserve some good fortune at LB after 5 years of total frustration. We were LBU meng, gotta get that back on track.

I see. With Wes it remains to be seen if he can be a beneficiary of the new scheme/DC. I think the kid has some natural ability but it seemed as though he was always thinking too much and never truly comfortable in Guidry's defense. Under Hetherman he will have the opportunity to have a breakout type year. In the event that he doesn't meet the challenge then I see Pruitt taking his spot or possibly Bonner. I think in general that we will see a big improvement in overall LB play for two reasons. The scheme is much simpler and very aggressive and I believe that Hetherman is a much better teacher than D Nic. We will see.
The only people comfortable with Guidrys defense was the opponents OC(except Napier)

This would be a game changer for us.

I'm a well-worn hater of our LB group, but this would change the calculus considerably.

Every time I see this thread get bumped and I see "on Mohamed Toure" I think its CIS's way of being like the younger generation today saying "on god" but with a CIS/Culturally inclusive twist.

@DMoney can we get a progress report here? The LB group as a whole might be the least talked about on the team. ****, Toure doesn't even have an official number listed!
How does he look in pass pro? Sideline to sideline speed?

This thread has a chance to go off the rails now that 80's WWF has been introduced.
The steroid era of pro wrestling. Guys looked outrageous.
Road Warriors
Tony Atlas and Rocky Johnson (The Rock keeping up the tradition though he’s probably on HGH instead considering how lean he remains)
Hulk
Ultimate Warrior
Sid Vicious
Lex Luger
Mr. Wonderful Paul Orndorff

And I’m missing a whole bunch of guys who looked almost like bodybuilders.
