I agree, but people are saying we can still add guys. I’m just wondering who, the portal is barren

Don’t need the portal. A players can choose to not enroll at their current school for the fall semester. Then simply enroll at a new school.Don't they have to have already entered by now?

They may challenge it, but this is how I think it plays out. Team challenges, player files suit, judge grants injuctioning allowing player to play, player plays, court rules that school can't enforce non-compete terms, player wins. While I agree Lucas set that precedent, I still think it will be contested by the program losing the athlete because Lucas' situation has unique elements to it. He filed his papers correctly, it was Wisky's decision not to add him to the portal. NCAA has also added new portal protocols since the Winter portal ended. ... GTs are a different story. They've always had special status when it comes to transfer rights.

What are these "new portal protocols"?
And you can "think it will be contested by the program losing the athlete", but I'd also note that Wisconsin has yet to file its threatened lawsuit against Miami.
Again, I'm not sure why people invent bogus reasons to falsely claim that the Wisconsin situation was sooooo unique. The NCAA clearly said that they had no power to prevent a student-athlete from unenrolling at one institution and enrolling at another. Full stop.
I'm not the lawyer, you are. But answer me this -- has anyone across the country registered at a new college without going through the portal yet? Spring semester is over for the vast majority of student athletes. Summer sessions are starting up. Show me one case a non-portal transfer has happened? I don't know of one. Given thousands of athletes entered the portal, the silence to me is an indication no one wants to be the first to test the "Lucas rule".
Given that the NCAA weighed in on Xavier's eligibility just before Spring semester 2025, no, there were no others who followed suit for the spring.
And unlike "need to be registered for spring to participate in spring practice", there is no similar requirement for August camp opening. You do not need to be enrolled for "summer" workouts until....August...
The fact remains, this has always been a specific set of circumstances. If you want to unenroll/enroll, you are likely to have already decided upon one school, as you will not be allowed to take "official visits" to multiple schools like a "recruited" student-athlete.
I'd also point out that Xavier Lucas had about a month (between mid-December and mid-January) in which to apply to UM and get accepted. I know for a fact that the UVa WR was graduating within one day of the enrollment deadline for UM's Summer A, Summer C, and Summer D terms. Simply from a practical standpoint, it is easier for a kid to apply for, and ENROLL in, UM's fall semester classes.
Plus it gives more time to evaluate Carson Beck's recovery.
As for the rest of your conclusions, they are ridiculous. You are confusing coincidence and causality. "Thousands of athletes" did not enter the portal in April after learning of the NCAA ruling in the Xavier Lucas situation. Therefore, there is absolutely no "indication" as to whether anyone wants to "be the first to test the 'Lucas rule'". Which does not even have to be tested, since it is already established. People like YOU have invented prerequisites and conditions for "using the rule" that the NCAA never put forth.
I notice, you still haven't explained these "new portal protocols" that you cited (and failed to bold-highlight in my post that you responded to).
Seriously, I may be sarcastic at times (nothing personal), but I'm really curious as to how all of the non-lawyers on fan websites invented "limitations" to the NCAA's clearly stated position on Xavier Lucas and his unenrollment/enrollment. As the NCAA accurately explained, they have no power to limit that personal choice to unenroll and then enroll at a new school. Maybe most transfers want to be wined, dined, and sixty-nined before they make a transfer decision, but for those who do not require such treatment, the "Xavier Lucas rule" is tested and true.
Don't they have to have already entered by now?
I am almost certain that no one has taken this path, however, eventually someone will. I have no idea who or when.I'm not the lawyer, you are. They will compete to start. Toure will battle Popo and Bonner will battle Wes. I expect them to be the Top 4 at LB, assuming Toure is healthy.
The comparison was only in the context of both having injury history's that required having a physical examination to determine their health before we signed them.barron comparison doesnt mean a thing. he turned out to be a workout warrior.
We haven't even begun fall camp but I agree with this. I see the LB rotation consisting of.....Popo will play a ton.
Toure will play substantial snaps
Wes will play substantial snaps
One of the freshman/sophomore LBs will play regularly.
If Bissainthe is the best we got then we’re screwedWe haven't even begun fall camp but I agree with this. I see the LB rotation consisting of.....
In no particular order
Toure
Bissainthe
Aguirre
Pruitt
Smith
With Wiley and Bonner getting more PT towards the end of the season.
I don't remember saying that but I would agree. I think Toure and Pruitt will be our best with Bonner and Wiley coming on towards the end. Popo will be solid. If Bissainthe is the best we got then we’re screwed
You didn’t say he’s the best we got, but the substantial snaps equals the best you gotI don't remember saying that but I would agree. I think Toure and Pruitt will be our best with Bonner and Wiley coming on towards the end. Popo will be solid.
I see. With Wes it remains to be seen if he can be a beneficiary of the new scheme/DC. I think the kid has some natural ability but it seemed as though he was always thinking too much and never truly comfortable in Guidry's defense. Under Hetherman he will have the opportunity to have a breakout type year. In the event that he doesn't meet the challenge then I see Pruitt taking his spot or possibly Bonner. I think in general that we will see a big improvement in overall LB play for two reasons. The scheme is much simpler and very aggressive and I believe that Hetherman is a much better teacher than D Nic. We will see.You didn’t say he’s the best we got, but the substantial snaps equals the best you got
