I'm told he has a clean bill of health after extensive screening. We won't really know until he's on the field, but he passed the first test. Tyler Baron was another guy who got screened before he came here.

As a player, I think Toure replaces some of what we lost with Kiko Mauigoa. 6'2, 235-pounds, playmaking instincts, loves going downhill. Similar to Mauigoa, Toure also played a lot of offense in high school. When he got to Rutgers, he was more of an edge. His pass rush is strong- he led Rutgers in sacks all three years he was healthy. And when he switched linebacker under Hetherman, he had an outstanding season (93 tackles, 10 TFL, 4.5 sacks) and dominated Miami in the Pinstripe Bowl.

The intangibles are a perfect fit. Hetherman trusts him, he's a two-time team captain, and he has good tape against Michigan and Ohio State. An opponent like Notre Dame won't faze him. There is mutual respect between Cristobal and Schiano (he was at spring practice) so this makes a lot of sense. From my understanding, Rutgers loved Toure but he wanted one last payday in college after his health scare.

It all comes down to the health. The reason he's available is because he's had two ACL injuries. He's from the same class as Avery Huff and Sam Brooks. But when you consider the fit, it was an obvious move.

I’m glad he passed his physical however we need him to be way better than Kiko Mauigoa
I'll take an NFL player.

It's hard to find great LBs in the portal. Of the 14 LBs taken ahead of Kiko, only 2 were from the Portal.

Hopefully, Toure is another Dan Morgan. But I think Kiko would be a positive, realistic outcome at this stage of the game.

People complaining about this take I guess didn’t get the hint..Mario and Hetherman don’t trust Wes or Popo or both. I lean to Wes. If the light hasn’t come on for Wes in his 4th year, not sure how long you want Mario to wait.

And Kiko was a 5th round pick! If Toure even gets drafted after 2 ACL surgeries that means he went ape$**** for us and that’s great news for us. So not sure why people are knocking the Kiko comparison. I’ll take that.

Kiko gets way too much slander on here by some.

He was still very productive last season being asked to do some different things than the year before.

2023-82 tackles/18 TFL/7.5 sacks/1 INT
2024-96 tackles/11 TFL/2 sacks/1 INT

He wasnt allowed to blitz as much this past season, and my theory was he was being asked to help in coverage more which isnt his strength, just like Daryl Porter strength wasn't nickel, but he was asked to due to injury.

This! Just watch the games and look at what Guidry asked him to do the season. It’s totally different than his first year.

Kid gets ripped way to much by the Miami Hurricanes Fan Association and don’t watch the film

Seems like Mario leaned on one of his coaching mentors to fix the defense. Getting Hetherman who also has ties to Schiano was probably no coincidence.

If he can help keep Wes on the sidelines than I love the take. Toure, Bonner, and the young LB's only please & thank you.
