Omier - All Pro Tight End

Am I the only one who watches Norchad Omier on the basketball court and can’t believe this freak isnt playing Tight End in football!?

This guy is 6’7 250lbs (same as Jimmy Graham), his hands are made of gorilla glue, jumps out the gym, great speed/athleticism, aggressive as can be. Not only could you throw him a jump ball, but can you imagine him as an inline blocker!

Other than him potentially not knowing what American Football is, what am i missing?

Football is this kids future ($$) and Mario should be all over it.
Nope, you’re not the only one. I mentioned it in a post about 2 weeks ago. The guy is an NFL TE waiting to happen.

Why not 🤷🏾‍♂️
I wonder where he feels his future is

My guess is .... hmmm  .... basketball?

Seriously, the kid is a monster on the court. He's as good or better than everyone he's faced. That Indiana kid was the only one I felt outclassed him.

Why would Miami fans think Omier can't make the NBA? Kid is the goods.

Tremendous college basketball player, no doubt. Looks like a man amongst boys. Just can’t imagine him making it to the next level without being able to finish near the rim or have any offensive prowess.

Let’s be clear while having this discussion that Omier is 100000x the basketball player that Jimmy Graham was. Not even worth discussing as basketball players in the same conversation.
The NBA will want Omier. His height is a detriment but there have been great rebounders in the NBA who were not very tall. The NBA is not as monolithic a league as people think.
PJ Tucker starts for the 76ers and he literally takes 1-2 shots per game. Omier can easily develop the level of corner 3 point shot that Tucker has. It’s not as hard as many of you think.

It’s going to happen. In the NBA you either need to be good at the typical 3 and D thing, or you need to be a specialist. Pat Beverly is a specialist, PJ Tucker, there are numerous others. He may not be a 1st round pick, but Omier will play in the NBA for a long time.

Definitely could see him being one of those Basketball players turned TE, if the league don’t work for him.

Edit: Could definitely see him becoming a Chris Manhertz type player at minimum

I hope the heat find a way to draft or sign him as a free agent. He’s got all the tools to be a good PF in the league except the shooting but he fits the Heat culture perfectly.

He’s easily going to become one of the better 3 point shooters from corner in the league? Which is what Tucker was when he was at his best? That’s highly unlikely

I’m a Sixers fan. Tucker is a terrible shooter, and can literally only shoot from 2 spots. I could teach 100 people in 6 weeks to shoot as well from the corner as PJ Tucker does right now. Stop making the corner 3 to be some impossible skill to obtain.

He's one guy i see that fits with the Heat alot...even if he has to go through Sioux Falls.

This guy made it through the Heat system and collected nba checks the last 3 years.

Omier would need to go to our Heat system though as certain other teams wont be able to develop him like we would...he fits with his defensive movement and rebounding...he is in the mode of a Udonis Haslem/PJ Brown type he just needs to develop that little jumper they both had.

Thats the point your a sixers fan your looking at washed PJ TUCKER not what hes been his whole career. He last in the league cause he could drain that corner 3 with the best of em....Omier aint even taking bunnies right now. Even washed PJ Tucker icould shoot it better than most.

But PJ is in the league still. And the NBA doesn’t keep you around for what you did last year. PJ is still playing because there is value in defending, guarding multiple positons, getting the occasional loose ball. PJ had a streak this season whereby he did NOT TAKE A SINGLE SHOT for about 7-8 games, all while starting and playing 25+ minutes. And he STARTS for the team with the 3rd best record in the East.

But going back to your original point, PJ Tucker played 3 years of college basketball at UT. In those 3 years, he took ZERO 3 point shots. Let that sink in. Zero 3 point shots. And he is 6’5”. A guy who took zero 3 point shots in college developed into a decent corner 3 point shooter in the NBA.
And Yet Omier can’t develop like that. Please. You guys are way, way, way, overblowing how hard it is to learn to shoot stationery corner 3’s. I can teach 12 year olds to do it, and quickly, while they are also in school and don’t have time to take 500 shots per day from 1 spot.

Last thing I will say. Watch Omier shoot free throws. He has great rotation on his shot and a good release point. Anyone, andI mean anyone, who is a good free throw shooter can become a decent 3 point shooter.

This whole thread is so typical CIS. Usually we just want people to change positions in football. Now we have a basketball player who is an absolute mismatch in basketball and people want him to switch sports. He isn’t Tony Gonzalez, or Jimmy Graham, or Antonio (played for the Chargers), who were mostly subs and marginal college basketball players. Omier is legit. He isn’t playing football, or rugby, or MMA.

Recognize him for how good of a basketball player he is and stop trying to diminish his achievements by wanting him to be a TE.

If it was so easy everyone would shoot good from the free throw line as well.

Your kind of down playing PJ Tucker is my point.

Omier aint gonna be that level of shooter but he could make it in the nba on particular teams ...mainly my Heat. He has the ability to switch on defense and gobble up rebounds...the Heat dont even care to much on rim protecting and he can play small ball for us easily.

What are you talking about? Have you even watched him play this season?

Omier is an excellent finisher at the rim. He can score with both hands, but is unselfish and does whatever the team needs. He can also jump out of the gym, and is a rebounding machine.

With his strength, athleticism, wide body and intangibles, there is zero chance that he doesn’t get drafted when he decides to enter the draft, His jumper has greatly improved this season, and is something that can be further developed. However, hustle and rebounding are something that you can’t teach, as well as basketball IQ.

As Kelvin Sampson said, they didn’t face a stronger, more skilled and smarter big all season long.

He will 100% get drafted, and in my opinion will be an impact player for many years in the NBA.

Typical CiS porsting, brother.

Omier is a stud BB player. Graham and Gates as you stated were not in the same ballpark as BB players.
