Omier - All Pro Tight End

Extremely athletic. Uber strong. Solid, wide frame with respectable height (6'7"), indomitable will and effort. Can score in the paint (averaged nearly 14 pts a game). I could definitely see him playing PF, or even C in a small ball rotation, in the NBA. In fact, he looks like the exact type of player a team like the Heat would covet. And I'd love to see us sign him. If he can develop even a short jumper, then he could really make some noise.

My favorite college basketball player in a long time. Total effin dog. He‘s a basketball player all the way to me. Probably gets a look at the league but the wingspan hurts at his size. No shame in playing professional basketball in Europe or Israel.

Obviously Lebron most likely would have been an amazing football player had he cojntinued that route.. but watching Jimmy every game over the last few years, he’s another one that would have been an awesome TE or WR. But god dam, has Jimmy been amazing- he just keeps getting better well into his 30s. Lucky to have him.

I'm always in shock with some of his rebounds. Like the ball just gets sucked into his hands when it looks like he's nowhere near in position to get the rebound.
..and often when surrounded by taller players. He has a unique knack for positioning and timing.

Wingspan differential aside, Omier at this point in his career reminds me very much of Draymond Green at Michigan State.
I get it. I think Omier is going to need to develop as a shooter more to really have a shot at more than just a short NBA stint though.

Almost every player in the NBA can shoot corner 3’s. And as I noted, Omier already has to HC and rotation on his shots. Teaching him to shoot corner 3’s will not be hard. ****, Robin Lopez has become a 3 point shooter in the league and late in his career.
The corner 3 is not a hard shot for a coordinated athlete. It is just not which makes me wonder if maybe you have trouble making the shot and are projecting onto others.
I would argue his greater challenge will be ball handling and understanding how to guard on the perimeter. On the block Omier will have an advantage over most NBA power forwards (not the freaks like Durant and Giannis).
The practice court or during warm-ups is a lot different than live and meaningful game action.

How tall is omier? If he’s 6’8-6’10 he’ll have a chance to get on the heat as a backup for bam. Coach L has a similar coaching style as spo, their offense is some of what the heat do, defensively too but he’ll have to be able to switch on the perimeter if he can do that he’ll have a real good shot of making it on the heat.

I personally think Jordan miller is the guy that will impress teams, high iq versatile wings are kind of a need in the league. If he can become a better 3pt shooter he can stick somewhere

He's one guy i see that fits with the Heat alot...even if he has to go through Sioux Falls.

This guy made it through the Heat system and collected nba checks the last 3 years.

Omier would need to go to our Heat system though as certain other teams wont be able to develop him like we would...he fits with his defensive movement and rebounding...he is in the mode of a Udonis Haslem/PJ Brown type he just needs to develop that little jumper they both had.
Yep silva stuck around off straight motor he just gave so much effort we had to keep him lol. But omier has shown much more feel for the game and iq imo, silva was just 100mph all the time **** was too fast for him.

Draymond has like a 4" longer wingspan and is one of the smartest players in the league.
He also has a great handle and starts or leads fast breaks ,coast to coast. He’s a point forward. Green isn’t a great player but he’s definitely unique. A rarity for todays NBA. A guy that makes it on his defense , toughness , rebounding and high IQ. He also plays in the one system and perfect roster to be what he is.

Omier needs to do a lot of improving to his offensive skill set to make the league. Maybe he can be like Green and play four years then get scooped up in the second round. But he’s definitely got the body for football. He looks the part.

This whole thread is so typical CIS. Usually we just want people to change positions in football. Now we have a basketball player who is an absolute mismatch in basketball and people want him to switch sports. He isn’t Tony Gonzalez, or Jimmy Graham, or Antonio (played for the Chargers), who were mostly subs and marginal college basketball players. Omier is legit. He isn’t playing football, or rugby, or MMA.

Recognize him for how good of a basketball player he is and stop trying to diminish his achievements by wanting him to be a TE.
THIS
Omier will play next level and have a prosperous career because he’s different. 6’7” with a 7 foot wingspan and is very well built.
When I see Omier, he reminds me of the body I would pick for myself……right now.
😎

He has a 7 foot wingspan……how does that hurt?

Am I the only one who watches Norchad Omier on the basketball court and can’t believe this freak isnt playing Tight End in football!?

This guy is 6’7 250lbs (same as Jimmy Graham), his hands are made of gorilla glue, jumps out the gym, great speed/athleticism, aggressive as can be. Not only could you throw him a jump ball, but can you imagine him as an inline blocker!

Other than him potentially not knowing what American Football is, what am i missing?

Football is this kids future ($$) and Mario should be all over it.
Agree with u but I also think he can play in the nba. Sorta like Kennith faried from 10 years ago.

Most likely no experience, and probably little knowledge of any about the game itself. Makes a potential switch to football even more unlikely mixed with the fact he has proven to be a **** good high level D1 basketball player

Yeah but if he doesn’t get a shot in the NBA, TE is an easy (easy enough) transition he could probably go work out with an NFL team and get a practice squad contract. Especially with all the success former basketball players turned TE have had.
