Official: TVD Out / JB Starting

It was only a matter of time before TVD got killed playing in this offense with a bad Ol. We run a lot of intermediate to deep routes they need time to develop , likely off run action, out of condensed / tight sets and then mix that with a bad Ol. The ingredients were a bad mix

Agree. I'm flabbergasted by how poorly Gattis schemed to the strengths of his players. He's worse than Enos. How this guy was considered next up for a Top 20 HC job blows my mind.

I personally would have hired in an analyst to take over play calling after the UNC game, definitely after the UVA game. Not officially or publicly fired Gattis. But pulled him from calling plays. I know it's not all his fault. Thin roster to begin with, injuries across all position groups. But players who ***** up are demoted all the time, coaches shouldn't be immune.

And TVD is the type of kid who puts all that pressure on his own back. You could see him breaking under the weight of having to pull a big play out of thin air. No help from the run game, no help from his receiving corp, a terrible OC. Just a toxic ****tail all around for the young man. Like you, I knew it was only a matter of time until he got knocked out of the game.

Dammit, I was hoping TVD would be ready. He gives us our best shot.

This Garbage *** coaching staff burnt his RS for a few Wildcat plays....Jesus H Christ...a complete Sh*tshow from Top to Bottom...
Elite players don’t stay 5 years.. They’d rather get early PT than RS. Y’all ***** just to hear yourself talk 🤡

what's he done to keep it?

put up yards against 2 of the worst defenses in the country in UNC and VT? he certainly hasn't excelled or done anything to change the outcome of games in a positive way

I like TVD and honestly hope he comes back paired with a new OC... but it's so easy for people on here to blame gattis without acknowledging that TVD has been a shell of himself this year and that he was considerably overhyped. Even with the plays we've had called, he's shown no playmaking ability when his first reads are covered and he has consitently let drives stall without making plays when it matters most

he deserved every bit of getting benched against middle tennessee state and wouldn't have even blamed the staff for doing it vs aTm when the offense was lifeless with him
TVD rebounded after the middle Tennessee game throwing for 850 yards 5TDs in the next 2 games.

Jacurri Brown gives us our best chance to win in a game like this bc of his decision making under pressure, dual threat ability, and accuracy while throwing on the run. TVD and Garcia throw too many interceptions especially in games like this without an nfl caliber offensive line.

Thing is, TVD has been proven to be effective in the right system. There’s a reason he was largely seen as a 1st rounder. No QB is going to look good with a crap OL, suspect WRs and a terrible scheme.

****, look at Tua. He was a big question mark before this season. Sprinkle in a new scheme that makes sense, a functioning OL and two of the best WRs in the game, and poof, he looks franchise.

I look forward to watching Don today , he’ll have more running lanes than he’s ever had here playing with JB. On top of that he’s one of the only really fresh guys esoecially at rb.
Who gets the start? Knighton?

my point is to not argue that TVD is bad here so not sure what you're trying to prove but he hasn't done anything exceptional this season

those two games you're referencing were against UNC (who have up 400 passing yards and 61 points to App State this year) and VT who is 2-8

and we lost against UNC as he again led an offense that struggled to put points on the boad and had way too many drives to fizzle out

I agree

the scheme and OC needs to change

my only real point is that TVD is to blame for the failures this season as well

in college, coordinators get all the blame. in the NFL, qb's shoulder 99% of it but there's a middle ground and people on here are refusing to acknowledge that TVD could have beaten aTm no matter what scheme we had. he Could have led us to victory over UNC by extending drives and getting in the endzone when it mattered most (not just padding yards leading up to it) and against middle tennessee state

BUT he didn't do any of that, so I would argue we can't confidently say he gives us the best chance to win because he hasn't been proving to lead us to victory in winnable games

He gets the blame but right when we spread the offense out him and the wr’s looked completely different ? So how’s that him?

After a few big passing games we go right back to the condensed bs and haven’t looked good with the pass. I’ve never seen an OC have such a bad affect on a offense and players in my life. He’s atrocious , to blame that on Tvd is just crazy.
I said the OC needs to go so we're in agreement there. But when we spread it out like you mentioned we got a whopping, 24 points against UNC when app put 61 on them? we drove efficiently down the field all game but when it came to the plays where it mattered most, he didn't make a play straight up.

TVD plays his part in drives not capitalizing and his inability to make something happen. he's just not a playmaker

hopefully we'll get an OC good enough to overcome TVD's inability to make plays. OR maybe we can get a new OC and a portal QB who can make plays and actually change games

I wonder if bama were to lose 6 games in a year but bryce young got a ton of yards if people would still be wanting him as their #1 qb.

The OL has got to be willing to die protecting Jacurri today. Unfortunately I have not seen that level of commitment from many of them.

Sincerely hoping that Jacurri escapes unscathed and uses lessons learned today to grow in the future.

I understand that but Jaccuri hasn't done anything to earn the job either. He had a solid game against against the 90th ranked defense in college football. I really don't understand why so many people are ready to write TVD off after that honestly. If he can do the same thing against Clemson then yeah maybe but it's to early to anoint him as the indefinite starter going forward for the future
TVD is elite as a passer. JB is elite as a runner. Would love to get the combo together one day
