I'm warming up to Butch a lil bit. His reputation locally and nationally is for putting a million first round picks into the league and he is elite at evaluation and development.

Recruits will want to play for him and he has been associated with the program in the 80's,90's, and 2000's. He knows he made a mistake leaving.

Plus even though UNC had run ins with the NCAA Butch doesn't come across as shady at all.

IMO, Butch will never work for UM again. He burned that bridge badly.

This is just dumb though, the man built the greatest team in college football history in 5 years coming off ncaa sanctions.

Burned bridges or not the school should like winning.

Then almost did it again with North Carolina if not for the NCAA timing.

I can assure you that if BFA leaves, then Butch will be the absolute #1 guy that former players start campaigning for. Former players will be begging for him to be hired.

Personally, I'd hire Petrino. But, at this point, I'm open to Butch given how bad I think BFA is.

Petrino is amazing, turns chicken **** to chicken salad wherever he goes.

I fear the last thing they want is someone who comes off as shady even though he was never in NCAA trouble.

Butch is not going to get past Donna Shalala. Not going to happen.

Burned bridges when he left here BIG TIME. Had the biggest academic cheating scandal in NCAA history on his watch. AND the John Blake scandal too, people seem to be forgetting that one too.

There is a reason that he and Petrino dont have big time HC jobs right now, and with UM being on NCAA probation, and after the debacle of the last 3 years and all the bad publicity, there is no way Shalala is going to allow that anywhere near the program.

not sure why everyone assumes Donna and butch have issues, he left in early 2001, she's didn't formally take over til June 2001 even though she had been named previously.

We don't need a miami guy, we need a guy who can coach at miami and deal with the kind of players that will most fill his roster, those from S. Florida, with all the bs that comes with it.

Yeah, it's probably the fact PSU is balking on the offer for whatever reason. If true Miami better use this as leverage cause Al has already made us look like chumps. Al has stepped out on his own and if PSU renegges on the offer, Miami needs to come back and force him to move on from Dorito. Else.
