1. He pulled a Saban, and left with bad blood.
2. He did nothing to prevent John Blake from orchestrating major NCAA violations at UNC.
3. Donna wouldn't touch Butch with a fifty foot pole.
4. When has this administration ever hired a coach with a sketchy background?
5. Why hasn't any other school called to inquiry about Butch, even though his payouts from UNC are over? Do you honestly think some SEC school wouldn't want the "best recruiter and developer of talent in the history of college football" on their staff?

This is my biggest fear. I have zero confidence in the administration to make a decent hire.

I'm warming up to Butch a lil bit. His reputation locally and nationally is for putting a million first round picks into the league and he is elite at evaluation and development.

Recruits will want to play for him and he has been associated with the program in the 80's,90's, and 2000's. He knows he made a mistake leaving.

Plus even though UNC had run ins with the NCAA Butch doesn't come across as shady at all.

I can assure you that if BFA leaves, then Butch will be the absolute #1 guy that former players start campaigning for. Former players will be begging for him to be hired.

Personally, I'd hire Petrino. But, at this point, I'm open to Butch given how bad I think BFA is.

Valid points. The only thing that concerns me about Petrino is that his Defense's aren't usually strong. I'm a firm believer Defense wins championships. That being said, I wouldn't hate the hire.

Correct. He's got good coaching contacts too and would bring in a very good DC.

People VASTLY overestimate the attractiveness of this job. This is NOT an attractive job. It pays cr@p, the fan base sucks, and were going to be on NCAA probation.

Not sure why people havent learned after the last two "hiring processes" that we arent getting some big name coach. The guys calling here may be agents for the coach at NIU, Cristobal, and some NFL coordinators.

Think about this, there were College coordinators who pretty much laughed at us last time.

Dude you are too realistic to think Petrino has any shot. I would love Butch but I dont see that happening either. I thik C4L hit it on the head. People are gonna be ****ed if we have to hire a new coach. Lord help us

There is NO way they are hiring Barrow. Coley wont get it either. If they are to the point of considering Coley, they will hire Cristobal. Mario Cristobal is the baseline, I dont think we go below that level.

As Ive said now repeatedly, Curtis Johnson is a name to keep an eye on .

Regardless of his D, Petrino wins. He's put up a lot of 10-11-12 win type seasons. A lot of coaches have good offenses or good D's but don't win a lot of games and fans think "well if we just get them a good coordinator everything will be okay!" but that's not really how it works. Petrino's D's weren't great, but he wins regardless.

Hope so. I could get behind Curtis Johnson being hired but we are in desperate need of program rejuvenation. If we fail this time around the U as we once knew it will never happen again. We are so far removed from our glory days yet everyone thinks people want to coach here.

I agree with you C4L but it doesn't matter at this point point what the **** WE FANS have to say about it. I'm most def. nervous about the next hire too and trust me I'm not holding my breath.

But here we are, **** in hand, waiting on Golden. If this class goes to ****, it's his doing and fault, not the fans.
