Would You Be Upset If Al Left For Pedo State?

I'm warming up to Butch a lil bit. His reputation locally and nationally is for putting a million first round picks into the league and he is elite at evaluation and development.

Recruits will want to play for him and he has been associated with the program in the 80's,90's, and 2000's. He knows he made a mistake leaving.

Plus even though UNC had run ins with the NCAA Butch doesn't come across as shady at all.
I'd pray for this too, Bicho.

Sorry, but I can't fathom what the Al supporters see/have seen to actually regret his leaving. I get the recruiting-- but the way I see it, even if he stays and we hold this recruiting class together, with his allegiance to his buddy D'Nofrio, and with Coley's obvious inexperience at game planning, he'll only squander that talent. I'd sacrifice half the recruiting class for a Head Coach and staff that know how to coach (whoever they have.) That's not these guys.

In my opinion:

A lot of excuses, not enough wins.
Not strong enough to recognize the weaknesses in his hand-picked coaching staff, and make necessary changes
Inability to game plan
Horrible schemes
Terrible game day coaching
Completely outcoached in every facet versus Louisville (even with 5 weeks to prepare) amongst others
Inability to coach-up talent

There are dozens of coaches out there who inherited awful programs without the benefit of such a fertile recruiting territory in their backyard--yet they managed to turn programs around in fewer then 4 years.

Yeah, yeah, sanctions. Excuses. We had the talent to compete, and when we got to the heart of our schedule, we wilted. Someone has to own that. I've heard & seen very little that gives me any confidence that this guy and his staff know how to get it done.

This is a gift-- provided Shalala doesn't go 0-4 in hiring.

Flame away!

I was up until today a big golden supporter but I now believe you are not wrong. I'm absolutely concerned that we will lose recruits and take a step back but it might be for the best in the end.

Everyone complaining is just convincing Penn State people not to pull the trigger, leaving us with Golden Al. You can't win!

You are giving the rambling idiots on this board way too much credit if you think competent people actually listen to what they have to say.

IMO, Butch will never work for UM again. He burned that bridge badly.

This is just dumb though, the man built the greatest team in college football history in 5 years coming off ncaa sanctions.

Burned bridges or not the school should like winning.

I'm on the fence about whether or not I care if goes. Only reason I'm really on the fence is because of the recruiting class coming in. I think Golden and Miami may be better off without each other now that he has come in and saved some face for our program. He did a great job of getting us through the mess now we need someone to take us to the next level.

if he is doing it for leverage ***** him.

Oh give me a break with this. They ALL do this. Schiano got a big fat raise at Rutgers when we went after him. Any coach that gets a serious offer from another program ends up with another extension and a raise. Its how this game works. PSU is his alma mater and proably has always been his dream job. If they are seriously offering him, he's going to meet with them, and if for some reason he DOESNT take it, which I doubt, then you can **** sure bet he's going to get something for it. Because PSU is most certainly going to offer him a HEFTY raise from what he makes here.

Who here wouldnt try to get a raise if another company came bidding for your services and offer you a big fat offer and raise? The sanctimonious nonsense here is beyond silly.

IF he does stay, I dont think this is bad for us. He can spin this BIG time for us and easy. Call all the recruits and tell them about how PSU came and offered him a big raise, how it was his alma mater, and how he is SO committed and sure that this program is ready to explode, that he turned down what was his dream job before he got here.

So the "delay" means nothing IMO. But I still think he's gonzo.

I swear to god if Golden somehow didn't get/turned down the PSU job and we lose even 1 recruit in this cycle of this charade, I'll walk to Coral Gables and punch that fat **** in the nuts myself.

My my, someone's tone towards Golden has changed.

It's amazing isn't it.Remember this dude battling everyone here on Golden's behalf just days back and now he's willing to physically hurt him.

Craziest heel turn since Hulk Hogan joined the NWO.

Circumstances change. IMO the damage is done. He has some qualities I like in a coach and I think he could have won here. Right now he's ****ting on this team, recruits and University. He needs to leave. You can't take this back.

Like I said before......if he were to not accept/get offered the PSU job and were to lose EVEN 1 recruit, it's his doing and that's unacceptable. He's dead to me.

My concern with Butch is I'm not sure we're getting the same Butch we got in his early to mid 40's.He was young, hungry to make a name for himself and eventually be an NFL head coach. He was a tireless recruiter. Now in his 60s with much more money than he had back then who exactly are we getting. He wasn't willing to be patient at UNC and wanted to shorten the climb and got caught.A Strong or Stoops from UK would be homeruns if we could get either. Both great recruiters and will have our defense in the top 5-10 in no time..

lmaoo what? do you even know what happened at UNC?

John Blake and how he got all those defensive studs to go to UNC.

lmaooo do some research. it didn't have anything to do with recruiting and Butch was cleared of any wrongdoing by the NCAA

If Butch was really something special, why hasn't he able to get a better job than being a "special assistant" to Schiano in TB? Are other coaches stupid and don't see what you guys see? Butch won 8 games in the last 3 years at UNC, that is hardly a powerhouse. Besides, Larry Fedora won a bowl game in his 2nd season after NCAA sanctions, while Butch couldn't win a bowl game until his 4th year.

I wouldn't mind Butch as our HC, its just that some people fawn over him as the greatest coach ever, when he is unemployed and seeking a job.

butch had to build that team up with relatively no history to work with. he stacked that team with NFL talent without a super fertile home recruiting ground

And we'll be on NCAA sanctions again by the time he leaves, just like at UNC.

Strong is not coming his stock has never been higher and he is going to cash in on it somewhere.
Butch burnt to many bridges
Schiano got a taste of the NFL life and wants to stay there for a while possibly as a coordinator somewhere
Chud maybe, but he stays here 3 years tops and jumps right back to the NFL cause he didn't get a chance to prove himself and wants to show he can.
Petrino to much baggage aint happening
Cristobal burnt to many bridges
Narduzzi would be a good hire IMO but some what skeptical, but everyone complains goldens big ten defensive scheme doesn't work here so why do we think his would (not saying it wouldn't)

So who else do you guys think would be interested in this job?

If Golden gets a raise out of this it will mean he has more raises at Miami than he does victories over teams with more than 7 wins.

The biggest problem is who are you going to hire that is better and wont leave after two yrs???

LULZ at "who are you going to hire that is better"? Pretty much any decent candidate is better than that fat greaseball. Petrino, Butch, Franklin, **** even Doc Holiday. Now, all the nervous Nellies are claiming the next HC will leave after 2 years. Based on what? Big Fat Al will be the first UM HC to leave for another college gig (God willing). Just don't hire another loser scam artist like him, and we'll be fine.

bottom line, we need a miami guy. a guy who loves this program. at least butch was a miami guy and left for nfl not another college program.

Yeah because Narduzzi runs a big ten defense.
