I swear to god if Golden somehow didn't get/turned down the PSU job and we lose even 1 recruit in this cycle of this charade, I'll walk to Coral Gables and punch that fat **** in the nuts myself.

My my, someone's tone towards Golden has changed.

It's amazing isn't it.Remember this dude battling everyone here on Golden's behalf just days back and now he's willing to physsically hurt him.

Craziest heel turn since Hulk Hogan joined the NWO.

i love miami fans. you guys are so funny.

Early on I wanted golden to stay and DOno gone, after this mess, both need to leave! Or get pushed out! This is some bs, wonder what our players are thinking, and asst coaches. Getting hung out to dry buy the man who sold his plan to all of them, Golden get the fack out! Take your puppet with ya!

You mean like head coach of a team about to play the national title game not saying anything as his name kept being (and still is) linked to another coaching vacancy, to then come out with a new contract that give him a big pay raise while still also being reported that the contract has nothing in terms of buy out that can still keep him from leaving thus still leaving that door open and the rumors to continue to fly? Or the head coach of the then defending national champions doing the same thing with reports of his agent talking to Texas as the season played on and him staying quiet and rampant speculation permeating the air waves and internet? You mean like those things?

It's part of the game and the business of sports, no big deal and nothing to get irrational about, they all know and understand the game. So no this does not do any of that to them. Only fans think and feel like that.

if psu flies in to meet with golden, its with a contract to be signed. no way they are flying in to just talk.

Sad part is I'm starting to hate Golden and he hasn't even done anything...yet.

He's already done plenty of damage by actively pursuing that job. Even if PUS picks someone else, it would be like if your wife tried really hard right in front of you to get with some other dude, but the only reason it didn't happen was because he wasn't interested in her.

Nailed it. He wants to leave or he wouldn't be interviewing, I'm officially off the golden wagon.

I said it this morning, that fat greaseball is actively pursuing that job, and the only way he isn't the next PUS corch is if they don't offer him. And if they don't offer him, how does any UM fan EVER look at that fat puke the same again? I hated the guy BEFORE this, but if he comes lumbering back into town after being rebuffed by PUS, I can't see how UM lets it go on.

FWIW, Schiano met with UM when we were looking, and then turned us down. Said he did it as a courtesy. IMO Golden is obviously interested, but there is a slight chance he's doing all this for leverage. He could turn around and say its his "alma mater" and that he owed it to them to meet with them, etc...

Still think he's gone though. Im sure Donna will be calling Chuck Neinas soon so he can tell us to call the coach from NIU.

The initial feelers will go out to Chud, Schiano, if/when they say no, it will be calls to NIU, Fresno State, maybe Curtis Johnson at Tulane, and Cristobal.

No way in **** do I see Donna allowing Petrino or Butch.

Would be out of character for her and the Board, It's all about the U not all about Canes Football, that is the University's position, IMO.

There is a cult of groupthink on this interwebs message board that doesn't necessarily resemble what the outside world is thinking Its like Lord of the Flies on here with all the bullies. The administration will be devastated if Al leaves.

Sorry, but I can't fathom what the Al supporters see/have seen to actually regret his leaving. I get the recruiting-- but the way I see it, even if he stays and we hold this recruiting class together, with his allegiance to his buddy D'Nofrio, and with Coley's obvious inexperience at game planning, he'll only squander that talent. I'd sacrifice half the recruiting class for a Head Coach and staff that know how to coach (whoever they have.) That's not these guys.

In my opinion:

A lot of excuses, not enough wins.
Not strong enough to recognize the weaknesses in his hand-picked coaching staff, and make necessary changes
Inability to game plan
Horrible schemes
Terrible game day coaching
Completely outcoached in every facet versus Louisville (even with 5 weeks to prepare) amongst others
Inability to coach-up talent

There are dozens of coaches out there who inherited awful programs without the benefit of such a fertile recruiting territory in their backyard--yet they managed to turn programs around in fewer then 4 years.

Yeah, yeah, sanctions. Excuses. We had the talent to compete, and when we got to the heart of our schedule, we wilted. Someone has to own that. I've heard & seen very little that gives me any confidence that this guy and his staff know how to get it done.

This is a gift-- provided Shalala doesn't go 0-4 in hiring.

Flame away!

I'm warming up to Butch a lil bit. His reputation locally and nationally is for putting a million first round picks into the league and he is elite at evaluation and development.

Recruits will want to play for him and he has been associated with the program in the 80's,90's, and 2000's. He knows he made a mistake leaving.

Plus even though UNC had run ins with the NCAA Butch doesn't come across as shady at all.

Everyone complaining is just convincing Penn State people not to pull the trigger, leaving us with Golden Al. You can't win!
