Some of you are shocked to see the vote so close (or actually to see more than 50% want Al gone)...but think of it this way, if the title of this thread replaced the word "Al" with "Mark" the vote would be over 90%.

Then...realize that they are a package deal and NOT mutually exclusive.

So taking all that into account, not only am I shocked that over 40% wouldn't want Al gone...but I'd venture to say at least half of that 40+ percent would change their vote if they looked at it from that angle.

Is this a joke? We've gotten better every year since he's been here, and I think wed all be pretty surprised if that doesn't continue next year. We have top ten talent next year, if we go 9-4 with them then there's an issue.

He stuck with the program and pulled some stud recruits to go to a mediocre acc school with other coaches saying we were gonna get the death penalty.
A lot of the upperclassmen on this team were just not good ball players.

I'll admit the in game coaching wasn't great this year but I've still got faith in golden recruitin and developing players. Losing him would set us back again.

Ummm, I'm on the fence on Golden leaving because of the current recruiting and messing that up but my main reason for responding here is that comment of improving every year. He won 6 and 7 games his first two years here, if he didn't improve there would be a lynch mob outside Hecht. Let's stop acting that the improvements are even a benchmark here......

Butch wants back in if offered he will take the job. Strong is locked up at 3.7 mill per year with big buyout. Forget him. If Golden leaves I think Butch comes back.

butch was just on i think cbs like 2 weeks ago saying how frustrated he is he cant get a job when he did nothing wrong. he was 51-20 here during a rough period and people wanted him fired too.

Not sure why people would fear losing this class. A coach leaving now would have minimal impact on this recruiting class. If you don't believe me go look back and similar situations, you might lose one or two at most. It's actually the following year that is most affected. This late inn the game it is to hard for kids to go to another school. . Plus most new coaches keep a few key coaches to keep recruits.

Are you ok with losing Yearby?

If Coley = Yearby and Coley gone, Yearby gone --- I'd say that would be pretty disruptive.

Yeah...and Coker had an 80% win percentage and a national championship on his resume. I remember folks like you chastising folks like me who called for his head before it became the mainstream train of thought.

Trust your eyes...that's all I can tell you. If you don't see it by now you're going to be late to the party regardless. All of the signs of a badly coached/prepared team are right there in the open.

I like Al as a person...and I badly wanted him to succeed here. The truth the matter is you need a hungry, aggressive, ****head of a coach to win in today's college football. Al is pretty much the opposite on all 3 counts, for better or worse.

I can agree on certain points. Guess I just see the positives that AG has done (e.g., recruiting, CEO qualities, sticking with us thru thick of things). Im holding out on condemning him to be fired at this time. I want to see what choices he makes this off season. AG appears to be a smart man, the question is can he make the very difficult decision of firing some coaches, specifically his friend? Also can he make adjustments to his defensive/offensive schemes? IMO these are the critical decisions for AG this off season.

This is a critical point in AG's career. If he is unable to make the correct decisions he wont make it here.

Let me be clear...I'm working under the full assumption that Al is NOT going to fire Onfrio. One of the biggest, if not THE biggest, aspects that define a "good" coach is the ability to spot and surround yourself with good assistants.

Al not firing Onfrio THIS offseason pretty much ends this argument. If he's content with rolling with Onfrio for one more year then he's never going to be successful ANYWHERE on a big time level.

I hope he shocks me and does it...but it just doesn't seem like it's in his DNA.

You could be absolutely right. There is something fundamentally wrong with the way the team has performed down the stretch. But a large portion of the the "It's Okay if Golden leaves" camp add when we get (insert high profile coach)… There is unreasonable optimism that we will land a BETTER coach if Golden leaves. More likely (based on history) we will get a project coach.

That's why, again, be careful what you wish for.

We already have one.

So, a project coach who we have now + top 5 recruiting class (ESPN) or a new project coach + a big risk of losing our top recruits? Doesn't take a genius to keep who we have.

First of all, barrow Hurlie Kehoe coley and Scott are more attached to Miami than golden. If you kept most of those guys and brought in a SERIOUS coach (which they could with the AG buyout money), the class would mostly stay together.

If Chud comes in Coley is gone :-)

Man, if yall can't see that Golden is a fraud then I don't know what to tell ya. I'm absolutely shocked, yet intrigued at how irony has played a role in Miami athletics these days in that now, the only people who are supporting this bull**** seem to have an "agenda" and are affectionately labeled "slurpers". LOL. This **** will end up with a worst 4 year record than Randy Shannon- BOOK IT.

Somebody PLEASE tell me where is Al gonna get 9+ wins next year???? Huh???? Duke returns everyone....yeah, now we have to actually worry about fck'g Duke..(smgdh). Fedora returns nearly everyone....(sighs). FSU is a given loss. GT returns everyone, you know, the team we narrowly escaped by way of miracle? LOL. Nebraska is gonna absolutely RAPE us in Lincoln. Throw in a Mike London coached squad...and I just don't see it. We may end up with 5 wins next season- no bull****.

Golden fckn SUCKS. You dumb muthafckas can call me whatever the fck you want, but you wont ever call me a "blind supporter". I will go ahead and say what some ******* on here are too scared to say-Golden is a worst game day coach than Randy Shannon- there, I said it. ****, even Randy could stop read option. Wait, I'm not done...the whole "Golden is the best recruiter since_____" is also smoke and mirrors. Just who in the fck did he bring in that is setting the world on fire (besides Coley, which he can't even scheme up simple **** to give the kid more touches.....jail break screen anyone???)??? ***** actually tried to sell Dalvin Cook on Randy's players in the NFL...fck'g pathetic...and we wonder why he's a Nole???? Ha! Al is only getting the kids he's supposed to fck'g get. Miami kids that actually want to go to Miami! Thank GOD for James Coley, lest we would enter the season with Duke annnnnnd???? And thank God for Duke- poor kid gets 25 carrys a game at 195 lbs......(smdh)...that fat ******* rode this kids back until the wheels literally fell off of the kid!!!! Now, since he's gotten us run outta da club YET AGAIN ON NATIONAL TV (rolls eyes), he's resorted to selling these kids on new unoforms for next season. F-U-C-K-G P-A-T-H-E-T-I-C, what a con man. WOW....really, AL?!?!? (SIIIIIIIGGGGGGHHHHH)!!!

Need I bring up the fact that he's, in all likelihood, fck'g his BFF?!?! I mean...they DID come from that culture? And speaking of culture, that fat POS is always yapping about our "brand" and our "tradition", yet he has our guys carrying themselves on the field like STRAIGHT PUSSIES!!! Not to mention having these kids locking arms and swaying side to side-not in the tunnel behind the smoke, but on the sidelines like a fckg pop warner team!!!!!!!! We are beaten before we ever take the field!!!! When I saw the team do this *** ****, my suspicions were CONFIRMED-this fat fck is the wrong guy for the job.

Anyone supporting this fraud simply because "he stuck by the program during the cloud" is a ***king idiot. WTF else was he going to do? Moreover, he used the "cloud" to extort additional funds from the University. I ***king HATE Al Golden and his "binder of excuses". I'll dance a fckg jig, buck naked on the Phillip A. Randolph bridge if this clown takes the PSU gig!!!!! RANT/OVER!

The fact that there are so many who wouldn't be upset if he left should tell you all you need to know about Golden.

If he was worth a **** this wouldn't even be a question.

Fortunately, Butch was not fired after years, while dealing with sanctions.

He gets a nice long term deal from Penn State and gets to come in an "rebuild" again. The rebuilding at Miami is done for him. Unfortunatley, we all realize (including Golden) that his brand of football just won't work down here. He also gets to save Dnofrio's career.

I think Al pulls the trigger knowing we have 3 amazing options who would be begging to take the job. Al loves our program and would be doing us a favor.

Rob Chudzinki, Greg Schiano and Mario Cristobal are all available.

Chud is the most highly regarded of the group and would be a star here. Was our best recruiter under Coker. Chud would be HC/OC and Dorsey would be on the first plane down to serve as QB coach/Asst OC. He would certainly ask Mario to come back and serve as OL/Asst HC. Chud is an offensive genius. Nobody can win in Cleveland.

Chud is the guy to take this program to the next level. He is Jimbo Fisher without the twang and overall doucheness.

Charlie Strong wouldn't even take our call. Neither would (insert name of hot college head coach here).
