OC thread

Why? Who has ponce developed at QB? We havent had great qb development in years, why do you have faith in this guy?
He's worked under Satterfield who is a solid offensive mind and from what I've read is a solid recruiter. I'm not endorsing him but simply saying pairing him w an elite OL coach could be a good thing

Let's post news and ideas here.

The name that intrigues me is Bill Bedenbaugh, co-OC Oklahoma. His name has been brought up before and it makes a ton of sense, especially now that we have a fresh start with Manny.

Lifelong Air Raid guy (played under Leach), has been around the best playcallers in the game, elite OL coach and evaluator of OL talent. He can help address our two biggest needs. The knock, and it's a big one, is that he's never called plays.

Well Manny’s never been a HC,our CO-DC have never been DC so his not being a playcalling OC should fit right in to what we are doing here.

Becoming the pre-school of main coaching positions.

This is gonna ruin my green/red ratio. James Coley (ducks behind car) https://247sports.com/Coach/James-Coley-36/

I didn't think he was terrible to be honest. His biggest weakness was in game adjustments. Seemed like defenses caught up to us in the second half of games and he couldn't adjust. If he's improved that part of his game, he was actually pretty good with his scripted stuff.

**** no to Frank Ponce and **** ******* no to James Coley.

This OC hire needs to be an X's and O's savant. I could care less if he's allergic to recruiting. Let the rest of the staff recruit and let the supposed wiins that this new regime will bring us do the recruiting work.

Bring me a dynamic OC. Period. No out-of-left field hail marys

hmmmmm this is definitely interesting, thanks 4 the insight.

It doesn't even matter who he "developed" because it was App freaking state. It all has to be kept in perspective. If he was such a savant he wouldn't STILL be a QBC.

The OC hire has to be selection that doesn't require mental gymnastics to justify. Given the makeup of the staff it's easily THE most important COACHING hire on this staff.

Frank Ponce CANNOT be the OC here. Period. There will be riots if that's how Manny chooses to start his regime here. You want to make him a QB coach.....fine, I have no issue there.
I am just trying to question people who keep bringing up his name with NO TYPE of track record. Never heard of this guy but only thing is he is miami guys bro and diaz home boy. Trying to get these guys to turn on their critical thinking skills instead of just pulling out some random name with nothing behind it

Applewhite is an interesting possibility in that he is not employed at moment (no buyouts), worked with Manny at Texas so there is some familiarity between them, has play calling experience as an OC and some experience as HC which brings that element to help Diaz as he gets acclimated to that position. Has worked under Brown, Saban, and Herman. He makes a lot of sense as a potential candidate.

Not exactly the guy I'd want, but you're absolutely right. He makes a lot of sense.

I hear you.

It cannot be overstated, Ponce CANNOT be the OC here.

I like the idea of Larry Fedora. Was a great OC under Gundy, was always considered a near elite recruiter in the state of Florida and runs a spread offense we all want. Whoever we get it needs to similar to what Richt did with Manny, give the OC full control of the offense, let him bring in his own coaches. That's why I want a former head coach or guy with a ton of experience, he also needs to understand how to run a recruiting board.

There are some great 2018 roster file saves over on OperationSports.com for NCAA 14.

I suggest firing that up, simming one year in the future and doing this. About the only way you're getting any kind of "savant" OC at Miami.

They went cheap, quick and lazy on the HC hire.

I expect a ******* savant at the OC spot.

Pitchforks are being sharpened as we speak.
