OC thread

I think the Difference with Manny is he is young and has the burning desire to win. Those guys are ruthless when it comes to results. Lets say he brings in this Ponce guy. If he isn't getting results, Manny wont think twice to replace him.

You don’t know that

I don't get the Bedenbaugh love. Seems to me like Lincoln runs that offense. Not sure he's really doing much in the way of scheme there. Maybe he knows the concept inside and out, but would rather have someone with playcalling experience. Maybe I'm wrong though on what his role is there.

Harrell, Fedora, Gleeson would be my calls.

Didn’t read all the replies but just want to say if it is Bedenbaugh, great.....I won’t hold that against him.

Kind reminder that we had an OC who was a QB Whisperer and had never officially called plays before he got here. Jedd Fisch worked out quite well but past performance is not a guarantee of future results.

I would be encouraged by Bedenbaugh

so...

Gleeson
Fedora
Applewhite
Bendenbaugh

IDK much about Kiffin and the offense he runs.. anyone care to enlighten?

Haven't heard squat from Kiffin lately. The admin must have told him to STFU.

I’m encouraged that Manny is looking to improve the Defensive staff too. Fran Brown, come on down

So let’s get this out of the way. Anyone who is a head coach, like Kiffin, isn’t going to take a step backwards to become an OC at the U. Also, people like Kingsbury, who was just hired on to be the OC at USC isn’t going to leave to come to the U. Please keep this to realistic options!

Personally, I think Yost would be perfect here at the U and I think it would be very possible to hire him away from TT!

Agreed with you on Kingsbury. That would be a lateral move between comparable programs and he’s got a much better shot to eventually be HC at USC than he does at UM.

Kiffin is a different story. Coming to be HC of the offense under Manny would be a significant move up in money and visibility. You’re not crazy for saying what you said, I just disagree.

A lot of it is just the track record of the coaching tree. Hire the apprentices, and they light up college football right away.

Let's post news and ideas here.

The name that intrigues me is Bill Bedenbaugh, co-OC Oklahoma. His name has been brought up before and it makes a ton of sense, especially now that we have a fresh start with Manny.

Lifelong Air Raid guy (played under Leach), has been around the best playcallers in the game, elite OL coach and evaluator of OL talent. He can help address our two biggest needs. The knock, and it's a big one, is that he's never called plays.
Its time we start being forward thinking. If this guy is young and hungry and innovative, im for it. I don't rethreads who were decent 10-20 years ago or they will be like Richt who never heard of motion. Lets get with the timed, attacking offense and defense

I would do what Saban does and try to poach that Bill Bedenbaugh guy by offering much more money. But keep him at same title, co-oc/ol. Then pair with David Yost. We NEED a guy that develops Qbs, and Yost seems like he does. I know I am being greedy, but why not?
what do you think about bringing Bill Bendenbaugh as OC/OL, and Frank Ponce as strictly QB coach or Co-oc/QB. I say this becasue ponce is well connected in Sfla since hes from Miami.

K ya'll find me a OC who -

- Is an innovator
- good with QBs
- Great recruiter
- CAN RECRUIT SOUTH FLORIDA
- Ruthless playcaller
- can beat the athletic defenses in the ACC and SEC

Is there ANYONE that checks ALL of those boxes? and the Croot SoFLA part is non-negotiable.

Mostly agree, but I want separate QB coach and OC. We need two guys. Up to Manny to make the numbers work.
