OC thread

This is Miami, we're going to hire someone who knows our culture of losing so it's probably going to be James Coley. To come up with a list of coaches that have no affiliation with us is a waste of time. In Coral Gables the rest of the CFB world doesn't exist.

the only positive about chud would be @DMoney trying to spin it on the podcast.

“You know the poles are tough SOBs and have to perform as they aren’t conventionally handsome.”

Not only did he not call the plays, but it was App State. Not only was it App State, but they ran a run heavy offense.

I need confirmation that Frank Ponce is NOT being seriously considered as an OC candidate.

I like their offense and they aren’t as run heavy when they have a good QB, they do a good job of adapting to their players.

He definitely can coach qbs and i think have improved even more so in that aspect seeing what he’s done with Fromm this year

I like the idea of Bedenbough. If we can get an andy reid type thatd be excellent. We need a guy who focuses on the trenches.

Yep. It wasn't just the great QB's at OU, it was a great unit along the OL. Listen to the post game interview of the Bama DL and how they praised the OU OL. You can't play big boy football until you get an OL that plays that way.

So let’s get this out of the way. Anyone who is a head coach, like Kiffin, isn’t going to take a step backwards to become an OC at the U. Also, people like Kingsbury, who was just hired on to be the OC at USC isn’t going to leave to come to the U. Please keep this to realistic options!

Personally, I think Yost would be perfect here at the U and I think it would be very possible to hire him away from TT!

What makes you think it's possible? Has he shown an interest in dragging his three kids into the Miami-Dade cesspool?

Let's post news and ideas here.

The name that intrigues me is Bill Bedenbaugh, co-OC Oklahoma. His name has been brought up before and it makes a ton of sense, especially now that we have a fresh start with Manny.

Lifelong Air Raid guy (played under Leach), has been around the best playcallers in the game, elite OL coach and evaluator of OL talent. He can help address our two biggest needs. The knock, and it's a big one, is that he's never called plays.

This is a good affordable hire. A lot of OCs aren't calling plays nowadays. Still a gamble but it recently worked out for OSU taking Norvells last OC. His OL coaching and evaluation is legit. If he brings that offense and builds an OL...a chimpanzee could call plays and far exceed Richts results.

Exactly, and as everyone knows, I was off the searels train in year 1. Got vilified for it. Dont care tho. I know bad oline techniques from a mile away. We need special coaching at the Oline. Especially if we're going to continue to avoid the midwest/northeast for recruiting. We need a guy who'll bring the nasty out of these SFL boys. Id love to get a an Oc who understands the importance and can TEACH to what he wants from a specific play. Thats special.

Applewhite is an interesting possibility in that he is not employed at moment (no buyouts), worked with Manny at Texas so there is some familiarity between them, has play calling experience as an OC and some experience as HC which brings that element to help Diaz as he gets acclimated to that position. Has worked under Brown, Saban, and Herman. He makes a lot of sense as a potential candidate.

He drug his kids to Utah and then to Lubbock Texas. Yeah I am pretty sure South Beach would be a fit for him. Have you seen a picture of him....

So don’t say Kingsbury cause USCw just hired him, but then turn around and say go get Yost who was also just hired? Shoot for the moon chase them all and see what one hits
