Van Gorder's mustache game was enough to have him canned. Dude looked like a cop in a crappy 80's movie.

Shame they'll probably get a shot in the arm for a bit. Hopefully, it dies off by the time we arrive.

So you think they will play better without him at DC, even for a short amount of time?
This was the guy some "astute" porsters wanted as our DC.

I do. I don't know for how long - maybe 1 week or two - but we've seen similar boosts whenever a guy is fired under the "too complex and players hate the scheme" wave.

It would be completely random, it may just be because they have more talent and/or they feel pressure. I just don't see it happening for a serious length of time.

I don't think it ever lasts too long. It's an emotional thing. Like when the Phins did this and "moved away from complex D" last year. Think it lasted a week or two. Then they eventually got back to getting pushed around. My hope is, by the time we go up there, they'll have simplified their defense, shown all or most of their bullets, and we have it on tape to ravage.
35+ points given up in 5 of last 6 games.
The dumpster fire burns bright in South Bend.
Not surprised, the look he got from Kelly against MSU told the story there. Kelly is a coach he will not play.
Why would Meyer leave a better paying better job to go to a place he already rejected when he chose UF over ND? People make light of ND's admission standards, but Meyer wanted nothing to do with those standards.Has Brian Kelly reached Corch status yet?
I could absolutely see him "stepping down" after next year, if they don't have a 10 win season...
Especially, if they get beat by Miami this year, his seat will definitely start heating up.
He just signed a 6 year extension, I doubt he's stepping down. If ND was smart, they'd cut their losses and go after Meyer.

Hard to say any school is 'better paying' right now with the changing landscape of TV deals and Kelly and Meyer aren't too far apart in their contracts. If they opened up their checkbook for Kelly, I'm sure they'd do more for Meyer.
Why would he leave though? Good question, the "Notre Dame is my dream job" will follow him as long as he coaches. He left the SEC when Saban became a threat, and he might feel similarly with Harbaugh tearing it up already. Meyer wins because he gets 4-5 stars to go wherever he's coaching. It's not like his success has been at Marshall. ND's admission standards argument is overblown anyway, **** they even took Louis Nix who could barely read.

You ignored the part where he already turned down the "dream job" at ND to go to UF where he could get guys like Aaron Hernandez admitted and keep him on the field even after he shot guys.
Urb grew up in Ohio. I doubt he's longing to leave a place that can pay him more than ND pays football coaches and will let him sign anyone.
I know he wouldn't step down, which is why I put it in quotations marks... Meaning they would force him out, but give him the dignity to save face by saying he "stepped down" or resigned.Has Brian Kelly reached Corch status yet?
