Tears Nole Tears (“Offcial”)

Elite recruiter but let’s be honest. 14 years there, 6 National championships with having the #1 (believe all but 1 or 2 of the years) or #2 class every year. When you have a 2 deep of 5* players and 12-15 top 100 guys every year you should be John Wooden level dominant. He wasn’t.
I thought I’d seen it all on CIS until I came across “Nick Saban underperformed”…

Every time he lost he lost to less talented teams.
Not exactly. Yes, losing to Louisiana Monroe in his first season was certainly one of those games. Which were the other games he lost where his team was head and shoulders above the opponent? Clemson (twice), Georgia, Ohio State, Michigan, LSU (2019 in the regular season). All those teams were equally as talented (or more talented) as his Bama squads. Maybe a couple of those Auburn teams he lost to in the regular season were less talented, but it’s not like they were horrible.

Look, I hate Saban as much as the rest of us, but his teams were not losing to a bunch of scrubs.

From 2011 to 2018 Saban had the #1 recruiting class in the country. Not only the #1 class but he had multiple years where there was 18-20 points (247) separating #1 and #2. He then had 4 out of the next 7 #1 classes (NIL brought him back to earth). I’d argue they never faced a team that they didn’t have the edge, if not a sizable edge, in talent.

“Elite camp” in 5 days. Will be an electric atmosphere I’m sure

Unfortunate that they're going to just stumble into landing Johnnie Jones basically...

For sure. His teams USUALLY had a sizable edge in talent, but not always. No argument there. However, when Bama would lose, those particular opponents were on the same talent level or just slightly less talented than Bama. It wasn’t much of a difference. I would argue those Clemson squads, Ohio State, Georgia, 2019 LSU, and 2023 Michigan were more talented than the Bama squads they beat. When Bama would lose, they weren’t losing to inferior opponents.

Anyway, not sure how we got onto this topic of Satan on the FSU Tears thread. I’ll see myself out and only respond when it’s time to make fun of and laugh at the Nollies demise.
