Just a reminder that Mike Norvell’s buyout is still a little over $50 million if he’s fired AFTER the 2025 season.

AKA, he’s going to be coaching there in 2026, in almost all likelihood.
This is exactly what I think. It’s not just that check it’s Malzahn and the rest of these new coaches on 3 year deals likely. And to bring on any new coaches with their buyout and staff. This would be a $60+ million check BEFORE paying anyone new.

An Oceans 11 level robbery
They have to a do a 30 for 30 on it.

What if I told you the greatest heist wasn't a bank?

Their admin and their fanbase has said that recruiting needs to get better and so does development, but they are recruiting like a glorified G5 team.
QB: Hope to flip the 18th best QB from Oklahoma
RB: local fringe 4 star like us, but don’t really have many other options, not like us.
WR: FSU has a legit shot at Jason Lopez, but then it’s all 3 stars.
TE: might have a shot with a 4 star out of Georgia, but that’s about it. Probably take some randoms.
OL: This is where it gets bad, Miami has taken two of their top targets and FSU is not in it for any big time prospects on the OL. Probably a bunch of 3 stars. Like Miami’s OL class in 25.
DL: FSU is getting ran out at this position. FSU’s scheme doesn’t get the DL a lot of stats. I would be surprised if they sign a blue chip.
LB: FSU might be in it for a few blue chips here, but we will see if they can close. Wouldn’t be surprised if FSU signs 1 or 2 blue chips.
DB: This is where it gets weird, usually FSU can get some decent DBs, but this year it doesn’t look like FSU will get more than 2 blue chips.
Wouldn’t be surprised if Norvell has a fringe top 25 class and FSU still can’t fire him.

Why Saban is so fkn unique. Elite coach elite recruiter. So hard to find a coach who does both really well lol
Elite recruiter but let’s be honest. 14 years there, 6 National championships with having the #1 (believe all but 1 or 2 of the years) or #2 class every year. When you have a 2 deep of 5* players and 12-15 top 100 guys every year you should be John Wooden level dominant. He wasn’t.

They will improve. Very, very low bar to climb. But if they make a bowl, I’d bet a large sum of money. That they will be a “sleeper” team in ‘26. I don’t see a scenario where he’s canned. Which is perfect imo.

They would need everything to go right to get to .500. Their trenches are a disaster and it’s not like their WR and RB rooms are great. I think their floor is 2 wins again. Ceiling is 6. And their whole OL is portal with no development behind it. Train wreck.

Maybe. But I do think Castellanos is decent enough he can mask some issues. Should go 2-2 in OOC. Stanford and WF aren’t that tough. Past that it gets murky. Maybe uva and Pitt. A lot hinges on the qb. But I agree, I don’t see more than six wins.
