I already posted...Dino Babers.

If you like Kendal Briles (I don't know why, but ok)...then Dino should your top choice.

Has shown he can win his conference (@ Bowling Green, twice @ EIU).
Has shown he can beat Clemson.
Has shown he can beat Florida State.

Total Offense - 14th, 23rd, 42nd @ Cuse ... 4th, 43rd @ BGSU
Runs the football on average 40 times per game as a D1 coach.

I don't care if he's old.

He would be a great choice.

He would need a good defensive coordinator choice, but otherwise, I like him.

re: Matt Campbell

I like him a lot, but the total resume is lacking for my liking. Also, I am not sure our fanbase gives Campbell time. If you take on Campbell, you're in for a total culture rebuild and that will take time I am not sure he will be afforded.
I have to say, I'm warming up to Babers. He's clearly better than Coker/Shannon/Golden/Richt, but then again, so is my 9 year old daughter. Anyhoo, I would not be upset in the slightest if we took a chance on Babers.

We are at the point where our next coach must be an offensive innovator.

We hired clappy as a caretaker, radio as some sort of aspirational recruiter, gluten as some sort of ceo friend of dorito two-fer. Then CMR as ceo or something stable whatever blah blah. No alleged ceo worth his salt is going to even take the job in 2 years when richt retires to build homes in other countries. What’s the saying for fool me five times? We will need someone who can come in and make things exciting quickly, without the time to rebuild line talent. That means spread air assault. Generate belief through points on board. No ice cream socials.

What star up n coming ceo coach is signing up for a rebuild on top of a rebuild on top of a rebuild on top of a rebuild?

What's the point of this post? Seriously Cane fan! CMR ain't leaving Thee Gables anytime soon. Well, at least for the next three or four seasons. And IF he did bolt comfy Coral Gables, some SERIOUS BIG TIME money would have to be put on the Orange and Green BOT table.

This was a critique of Goldens before he got here and the response was similar...he can build it here.

Its not short sighted, but once bitten, twice shy. I'm very hesitant on former MAC Coaches that haven't won the MAC. Its not a steadfast rule, but the exceptions are few and far between of MAC Coaches that jump up and succeed after not winning the MAC.

Babers...and depending on how Buffalo finishes the year, Lance Leipold are two current/former MAC Coaches I might like more than Campbell.

For the record, I like Campbell quite a bit, but I think the trajectory of his career is tough to gauge so far. Lets keep it real, the man has never won 10 games in a season yet. Never won a division title at any level as a head coach.
Can’t fault a guy for being gun shy because of Golden I guess.

I like Babers too and would likely be quicker solution to Campbell but that’s just guessing.

For some reason I see a lot of Iowa State games and even though they don’t win a ton of games they always look well prepared and play hard. Looks like a well coached team for a few years now.

Briles is NEVER coaching at UM.

Never. Ever. ever, ever, ever, ever, ever.

He should though.....he should....

That includes all former Miami guys from 2002-2003. Schiano, Chud, Dorsey, Mario, Butch. None of those guys bring the schematic advantage that this program desperately needs.
Those guys don’t need to bring a schematic advantage, they need to bring structure, recruiting, and attitude. It’s their coordinators who need to bring the schematic advantage.

What’s the point of the board? Of being a fan? You can live with denial, slurp, whatever you want. Most people here discuss football. When things look good, you discuss that. When things don’t, you discuss that. So here we are. Do you think things look good? Or do you just not want to discuss things that don’t look good? Because you don’t have to. You can skip the thread or all of them. But if what you want is others not to discuss things they see, well, then I can’t help you.

Look at the top 10 and see how many teams have a true "CEO type" vs a guy who was a great coordinator...

Of the top 10, I'd say 4 teams have a CEO type (Swinney, Saban, Oregeron, Harbaugh). The common link with these guys is that they have seasoned/very good coordinators on both sides of the ball. I don't know that the answer is a CEO type vs an innovative ex-coordinator but I do know that if you are the CEO type, you better have great coordinators.
Part of my point is i am concerned we’re past the place where a ceo who could rebuild this will take it on. We dont have the budget or time to allow low pressure rebuilding. It’s a glaring train wreck. We need someone who can bring innovation. Because a mediocre ceo without the budget to hire great coordintors is a recipe for what we have now.

Also, saban is a special dude. Very football savvy. Very smart. Orgeron isnt a ceo, just right place and time. He’s a ditka motivator, perhaps. Harbaugh is hard to assess. He has nfl cred, has offensive innovation in his tool kit and will sell himself hard in recruiting. But not sure he’s enough of a manager to hold things together. So not sure he’s really a ceo. Dabo, I suppose. He’s a true manager, gets coaching talent, gets evaluations, can sell himself and his program.

Amigo, I don't think it's as dire as you claim. Yes, something is rotten in Hecht and we lack some depth at some key positions. But, get a very good OC in here and he'll have similar impact that Diaz had on his defense year 1.

I could get behind Babers here as well, guy knows offense and seems to have Cuse back on the right track.

Posted in another thread, but wouldn't mind giving Dave Aranda a shot... he didn't have overlap with David Yost in Utah State but they both coach(ed) there., try and poach Corey Raymond and hire as many assistants with Miami ties as possible.

I think Matt Wells, Head Coach at Utah State would be a good candidate to consider for Miami's HC gig. Doing great things at a program that probably has limited resources and is competing in a state where Utah and BYU probably have the premier following of fans and athletes. Good ties in California for recruiting and Texas which would only complement who we recruit in FL. IF you have not seen what he has done at Utah State, take a look. High powered offense and coming out of the gates quickly. He won't be available for long.

Campbell has beaten three Top 6 teams in his last 20 games as HC. He’s beaten Lincoln Riley, Gary Patterson, Dana Holgorsen, and Mike Gundy. Impressive, to me, at that school. He did not win the MAC, true, but he did tie for the MAC West lead his last two seasons but tie-breakers kept Toledo out of the MAC championship.

He may need more experience but the talent he can attract to Ames, Iowa only gets him so far. He will always be behind Oklahoma and Texas, and probably behind TCU, Oklahoma State, and maybe West Virginia.

Championship canes teams identity always started with defense. If a change is ever made get an elite defensive mind. Or a coach with the pedigree to attract elite coaches on his staff. Arizona State may have found the formula. People laugh but Jack Del Rio is a guy who could put together a great staff. Raiders have been terrible since he was fired. Swagger matches the canes brand. Another name Kris Richard. Up and coming coach put together great defenses in Seattle with the Seahawks. Bill Obrien went to Penn State in hopes of getting head coaching expreince needed to become a head coach in the NFL. Manny Diaz models his current defense after the system ran in seattle for many years. Could bring miami alum Clint Hurt to run thr defense. Worked together in Seattle as well. None of this will ever happen but fun to play along anyway. Coach Richt isnt going anywhere.

Babers is the most realistic choice.

I think Holgorsen is attainable. And I’d take him.

Josh Heupel, depending on how he continues at UCF. It would be interesting to see what Shannon would do ...

And the most obvious choice is Manny Diaz. He’d have to still call the D, because his guys are all too new. But if he made the right OC hire, it would work.
