Well said and what I think is interesting is Iowa St seems to routinely give good teams difficult games even if they ultimately lose and it’s been multiple yearsCampbell has beaten three Top 6 teams in his last 20 games as HC. He’s beaten Lincoln Riley, Gary Patterson, Dana Holgorsen, and Mike Gundy. Impressive, to me, at that school. He did not win the MAC, true, but he did tie for the MAC West lead his last two seasons but tie-breakers kept Toledo out of the MAC championship.
He may need more experience but the talent he can attract to Ames, Iowa only gets him so far. He will always be behind Oklahoma and Texas, and probably behind TCU, Oklahoma State, and maybe West Virginia.
It’s always funny to go back and see who people wanted and swore would be great coaches. Not sure if Campbell is the guy but I would like to see him get a look.
