New stadium venues, Overtown or Tropical Park?

Playing in Beckham's stadium would assure the programs survival for a long time. Students deserve to jump on the metro and watch their team in the heart of this great city. Sorry palm beachers gotta drive down to Miami. A move to Overtown is inevitable once the stadium is built. This sentiment is shared by all the alumni who live work and play in this city. In other words BRING THE CANES BACK HOME. Dolphins should do the same but we all know that's not happening.

Who cares about driving south for a UM game - as in University of Miami. Games should be played in Miami & I'll take either site. I'm partial to Tropical Park because I grew up 2 blocks from there & spent my childhood there, but downtown Miami site would be awesome too.

I hope the school doesn't care about making the Palm Beacher's drive to a game a little bit further - this coming from me & I live in Jupiter.

I personally would like Tropical park moreso than Overtown. It is closer, granted not by much but to the students and players it would make a big difference I feel. Busses won't necessarily have to go via highway like to overtown and **** many of the students can take an Uber or Taxi ride aside from the short shuttle bus ride if they are too intoxicated etc or if they don't live on campus.

I don't mind the idea of having a smaller stadium even with marquee matchups, gets those **** fairweather fans out and a reason to have season tickets! Create a demand for tickets, increases the prestige and excitement going to a home game- that college atmosphere feel.

At least the guy is trying. So many times you hear "a stadium close to campus is never going to happen," but no one really did anything about it. I appreciate him trying to get the ball rolling.

Everyone should get behind him because our school and AD have no ***ing plan.

You mean except the plan that is the BOT and Athletic dept working with Lemonis to look at the feasibility of Tropical Park?

What plan? Tell me about this plan they're leading.

In 2002 or 2003 we had 48K season tickets. We still didn't sell out the OB. Ideally we'd play in a 55K seat stadium, but 40-45 would be fine.

40-45 ain't gonna cut it.

The numbers most be what is reported but we all know that are inflated. We all know that supposedly paid attendance plus students/ faculty/recruits who show up with free tickets. Miami rarely gets more then 45k butts in the seats other then FSU.

it's not just the distance. it's the atmosphere itself.

sun life is soooo dead.

for the past 7 seasons I've been going there, i can count on one hand when the place felt "alive."

the last one was during the 2014 fsuck game where we played to not lose and lost in the 2nd half.

I'd call that selection bias.

Without giving too much information, I use to have an office at SLS. Therefore, I have attended many events, sporting games and concerts at SLS. Outside major events like the SB, World Series, WrestleMania and U2 concerts, the atmosphere at SLS is beyond terrible. Unfortunately, the renovations did very little to fix that problem.

Cane games have been brutal to watch at SLS. Even the atmosphere for some FSU games (2008 and 2010) were not that great compared to the OB or Doak. We didn't even sellout the Florida game. It really sucks that this is our only option.

Yeah, the color of the seats is the problem. Smh

All I know is Sun Life Stadium is THE worst college experience in America. I'd rather play in FIU stadium...and no...I'm not kidding.

Beckham's stadium, Tropical park, or a field full of rocks anywhere in the general vicinity of campus would all represent SIGNIFICANT upgrades over the current abysmal situation.

The numbers are audited to ensure compliance with NCAA rules. Students who are comped tickets can only be counted if they actually attend the game. I have posted the rules on attendance counting numerous times, and I have posted links to audited attendance records from other schools for reference.

I don't know what point you're trying to make. If a stadium only holds 40,000, you can't sell 50,000 tickets.

Yes put it close to campus so the 8000 students that go can somehow fill the stadium. I dont care where the stadium is but those who think it means a **** for attendanceor winning are on flaka.

And how are you supposed to have a paid attendance of 53,000 if there are only 45,000 tickets to sell?

What plan? Tell me about this plan they're leading.

Earlier this year, Lemonis became a "significant donor" to the athletic department and is in regular communication with Blake James and Jesse Marks. When Lemonis announced his $1 million donation to start the Tropical Park stadium process, the school put members of the BoT in touch with Marcus and they've had conversations on the process and key players who should be involved. Marcus then met last week with City and County (and possibly UM, but I can't verify that) officials about the process. It's still very early, but the effort is underway and the school is working with Marcus. I don't know about the earlier efforts, but Marcus is not one to waste his time on things if they aren't realistic.

Do you expect to have access to a live video stream of their meetings? Breaking news: it's possible to have a plan without you knowing about it.

I'd certainly like to see us out of Joe Robbie or Prophilactic (sp) stadium or whatever they're calling
themselves; but will the U look to Beckam and will Dolphin stadium release the U from its contract ?

Has it not been brutal to watch patches of teal mixed in with some orange on tv??? Hasn't it not been brutal looking up and seeing an empty upper bowl?? I sorry did I miss something? I thought having a good game day atmosphere and looking good on tv would attract top recruits. I guess not.
