ND Game Next Year

If/when the committee screws us we should cancel this game.

Add another home game and play UCF.

Will curb stomp them, get credit for a P4 win, and they will pack the stadium making up for the payment to get out of the ND game.

No point in playing OOC heavyweight games any more. Just follow the Indiana model and schedule layups and try to make the conference title game.

We literally got zero benefit from beating ND and UFag other than the satisfaction of beating down a rival and ND has since rubbed it in our faces even though we won.

Except the only reason why we are number 13 right now is because we beat Notre Dame and that has us as a top 10 in the FBI and has helped improve our strength of schedule our strength of record and our game control which are all versions of metrics that they use even if we are not benefiting from what we all know we should be

So yes, I get the sentiment but if you swap out UCF this season for Notre Dame win even if you discount the head-to-head every single one of those things falls and we are not 13 right now even having the conversation

I cannot express how much I normally hate people *****ing about the refs. It makes me cringe so much

BUT it’s impossible to deny how ****ed it’s been

I do think it’s bad all over college football and don’t want to get stuck in the Miami vacuum, but it’s really difficult not to take it personally at times

I don’t want to ever say we lose games because of refs because many times it should never be in their hands, but the disproportionate stats are wild
J how in **** do ref's give VT 3 opportunities to convert on a 4th down yesterday? Something seems incredibly wrong, and I also hate to say it, but a couple non calls or calls go our way and we win atleast one of those two losses we have, particularly a non fumble called or a PI roughing the passer.....Just don't impact the game like that refs. **** last season everyone in the world called a safety during the Clemson game, yet the refs didn't.

So basically the same spot we are currently in...Good then.

Whats the bnefit of playing ND..if you have no answer for that...we shouldnt play them.

what top 10 win does nd have or byu?. help me out.

Drop ND...ADD BOISE STATE next year to schedule. and add one of the teams from the new pac 12 conference to fill for that south carolina cancellation.....Im dead serious.
Facts. Being left out proves it serves 0 benefit to our program. Also, I agree starting the year with a big OOC opponent is especially dumb. We need at least 1 conference game early and to schedule our FAMU/Bethune cupcake in November like Clemson & the SEC schools do.

Believe me I know and I agree. I don’t want to remove our role in not doing what we need to in order to win outright but it’s game after game, year after year. Remember last year we got a safety and they took it away? That was the most insane thing I’ve seen

Who cares? we’re not making an at large. We only get an at large with one loss with or without ND on the schedule.
Exactly. Why deal with it. Just focus on the conference. Unless we have only one loss we aren’t getting in any other way most likely

Actually, we should cancel conference games after October. There's where we have the problem.

One of the things that really ticked me off was the play where Drones was clearly short of the first down not long after that

So the refs felt all bad because VT coach was *****ing about the inadvertent whistle so they gave them a makeup call

That’s how it felt to me

Nevermind the whistle had no effect on the play. Like I said elsewhere if they don’t blow the whistle we make the tackle and get the ball

The whistle ended up helping them AND cost us a timeout. That part keeps getting left out because it wasn’t critical. Well sometimes a wasted timeout is a huge deal

So Miami loses a timeout and VT gets another chance to convert a 3rd down because of an inadvertent whistle AND then the refs clearly give them a makeup call that costs us on another drive

I was unhinged 🤣 (I swear I’m fine now)

Agree with most of your post. The problem is we don't know if beating ND will give the Canes an actual chance. Both teams have 2 losses and Miami has the head-to-head victory, but is behind ND in the polls. What is the point of any of this if head-to-head is not the first tiebreaker?
Exactly. If OSU loses to Michigan, OU is ranked above Michigan still. They aren’t going to rank Michigan above Alabama because Alabama played OU closer than Michigan did. Bama also has better wins. They put ND above Bama right now; and I don’t see an Auburn win doing much of anything. So Michigan isn’t going to get in regardless; even if it bumps them up to 11.

ND has 4 common opponents with us unlike Michigan-OU; and in this hypothetical we are both a combined 8-0 against said opponents.

I know the exact drive. I was irrate, even the announcers laughed at it not being reviewed, and belive they even mentioned / asked how the ref could see the ball from that side of the field lol Its not an exact science, but for **** sake, be better.

A couple weeks back I watched the same, bang bang play that the SMU linebacker made against Lofton that cost us the TD. During the Washington game, the play was not only reviewed for a PI for helmet to helmet but they were also going to give the player the benefit of the doubt for the catch lol
Same exact play, yet we didn't even get a review. It's laughable at this point.

to be like indiana we'd have to beat the #3 team in the country and beat the #9 team in the country.... to say they play nobodies is hyperbole

Yall are being way too outcome dependent. The problem isn’t the wins, it’s the losses. It’s wild I have to explain this to grown men.
Except last year the problem was not losses; it was wins. Our lack of quality wins against ranked opponents and teams above .500 was the justification they used absent of H2H + common opponents.

To make it worse, we had one more win than Bama who lost to two teams worse than GT, who just went toe to toe with UGA.

I’m not fine anymore because I remember that too

I’ve got kind of a belief that the more bad spots you put yourself in the more it opens you up to have bad **** happen (duh right?)

So sometimes I’m not sympathetic because we play dumb and it’s makes these critical calls more glaring

But still…it’s tough to watch

Losing to a 8-3 team in SMU who is ranked and 7-4 L'Ville who ended up getting ranked are not bad loses. Losing to FSU is bad and no one brings it up for Bama. Why even play the **** games.
Forreal. Last year they bobbed and weave with the statistic: wins against teams above .500; when of course Bama lost to two teams who went .500. But Bama also had some good ranked wins & we had no ranked wins. We had no common opponents either; which was the rationale used for putting us above Ole Miss who lost to UF.

This year, even with the same record; and a common opponent, they are now ignoring common opponents only in our case specifically. They put 7-3 texas above 8-2 michigan because texas beat OU who beat Michigan.

My bad, reliving that crap lol. I'm glad this team has looked the part the last few games. Looking forward to a great performance vs Pitt to end the season. I'd be happy with a dominant win. No control over the CFP but hope media decides to go ham on the committee and puts some pressure on them to get us in. The losses were bad, but both teams are ranked in the AP currently, meanwhile one of which could be an ACC champ.. We can compete with anyone at this point. All our losses were down to the last possession.

Play cupcakes, allows us to get more PT for youngsters and get them integrated early and less wear and tear for the ACC. Literally focus all our man power towards 9 game conference schedule, we need to win that by any means necessary. Imagine all the game planning we did for ND and the goiters and put towards UL

Pitt is a tough team gonna be a dogfight I think

Would be an absolute kick in the stones to beat ND, UiF, FSU, and VT in the same year and come up short of the playoff

I’ve got an almost unreasonable belief that if we beat Pitt it will somehow work out
