ND Game Next Year

Disagree. I think you make the
loudly and publicly point that there is no purpose for any team in cfb to play Norte Dame in a regular season game since if you win the playoff committee views it as irrelevant. Someone else can get screwed from now on. Going to focus on conference play instead.
💯

I want to make sure this thread stays near the top of the board. If ND is still ranked ahead of us and goes to the playoff over us, this should have wide-ranging implications. If the actual results on the field do not carry any weight, why play the game? F that and f any conference “rule” that may be governing it. Cancel the **** game and play FAU at home or something.

If what we expect to happen later today actually happens, we need (not should…NEED) to make that statement.

Not to change the subject but if we are talking about replacement games, how about playing FIU every year last game of the season? I know before there was concern about legitimizing their program but is that still a concern now in this new landscape where money is the driving force? It should be a win most years and it assures we play at home at the end of the year.

100% disagree....

We need a marquee game the last week of the year every year. Not a boring blowout against a bottom dweller that nobody is going to watch or go to.

I tend to agree, but the problem in the ACC is who even knows what a “marquee” game could be. GT? Pitt? ******* UVA? Duke? They’re all gross.

It’s basically throwing darts.

Why? It's been proven multiple times losing late is far more detrimental than losing early. Play your marquee games early, even if you lose you can run the table and still make it in. May as well just schedule G5 or FCS games on the last two weeks.

I honestly dont understand the cancel the ND angle.

1. Yea theyre ***, but its the committee ranking them above us, not them. I thoroughly enjoyed beating them and playing that rivalry game again.

2. Just need to take a page out of ND's book. Schedule two hardest OOC weeks 1 and 2. Get that out of the way, then recover your reputation by pounding the scrubs the rest of the season.

3. Actually pound the scrubs the rest of the season. No taking your foot off the gas in the 4th quarter or losing games as double digit favorites.

Agreed. Plus, I live 4 miles from ND Stadium and am looking forward to seeing the Canes play.
I am planning on making that trek next fall. I have a friend whom has had season tickets at ND for a long time.

Remember that old adage about winning the battle but losing the war? That's what cancelling ND would be.

UM playing ND gets us on primetime, brings beaucoup ratings, resulting in more exposure and more gelt from the ACC.

The national debate going on now (which even has Paul freakin Finebaum on our side) is also great exposure. Lastly, those ratings also make us more attractive to the B1G, which is hugely important.

Yep the corrupt SEC plays their last cupcakes week before end of season to avoid any upsets but finishes with rilvaries

You play the game and them beat that *** again.

I hate ND, but truly, our playoff beef is w the process and the committee.

You always relush the opportunity to curb stomp the Irish.
Isn't the base problem not with the process, but with the built-in bias towards the Notre Dame brand? You see it in tv contracts, national media, and probably within the Committee itself. That is the shame of it as it's not about on-field results, but the selling of an image. I vote for cancelling the game as there is absolutely no upside in playing ND evidenced by the current mess.

Yall are being way too outcome dependent. The problem isn’t the wins, it’s the losses. It’s wild I have to explain this to grown men.

Bammer has 2 losses. 1 being to a team with a losing record that has won 2 ACC games the last 2 years. Bammers other loss is to a team that lost to Texas that has 3 losses with 1 being to a team that has a losing record. Miami lost by 3 and OT to 2 8-4 teams. Only Miami is being held to a standard no other team in college football is being held too

There are a lot more fun ways to prove you’re an idiot than what you’re doing right now, baby doll.

One of the teams has two top 15 losses. One of them has two losses to an unranked team at home and a now-barely top 25 team.

Answer the question I posed: if we had a win against a G5 team instead of ND right now, are we getting any at large consideration? There’s your answer on if we should play the game.
None of that matters when you have the head to head. You only use SOS, rankings or other metrics to decide between teams who have not played each other. If I am not going to get credit for beating them, I am not playing them anymore.

I think you are missing the point. If we are not going to receive credit for beating Notre Dame in a head to head game, why schedule them? Let them stay independent and schedule DeVry or North Eastern Tennessee. Clearly the committee is saying beating Notre Dame won't benefit Miami.

Subtract the ND win from our season and replace it with Northern Illinois.

Are still in the conversation for an at large?

If the answer is anything other than “yes we are in exactly the same place”, then the ND game has value.

You are letting the committee’s stupidity cloud your judgement. Winning another meaningless game does not help. Winning the meaningful ones (Louisville and SMU) does.

What a take ... we beat them the last two times we played. What do YOU want to do ... play Bethune Cookman every game? Want to be national champs? Beat every team regardless of who and where. That is what actual championship teams do. Or get a participation trophy.
ND needs to be held to that same standard tho & it’s clear they are not..play two top teams first & lose both then proceed to beat up on cupcakes and overrated USC now they are looked at like some juggernaut. Champions aren’t going to be undefeated every year but apparently Miami has to be to have a chance it’s comical. 10-2 n are going to watch sorry *** Dook play for a championship, Only @ Miami lol.
