Oregon State's offense was literally dribble 24 seconds off the shot clock, then hit a long contested two. None of their players have a tight handle, they all have hitches in their jumpshots, none of them look like particularly explosive athletes, and somehow they're 30 seconds away from the Elite 8.

Their switching defense was nothing but terrific today. They totally shut down that Loyola high post game that killed Illinois. Ethan Thompson is another "stealth" star like Klay Thompson was at Wazzou. Nobody in the East ever sees those teams from the Pacific Northwest.
 
So Arkansas is going to the Elite 8 in year two under Musselman.
A good recruiter whose first recruiting class was 5 in-state kids after loading up on grad transfers when he got the job two Summers ago.

Leonard Hamilton can recruit and teach pretty good defense. As for offensive strategy, he rolls the ball on court and tells his players, "Just play like you do down at your local playground." No set plays, little structure, a ton of one-on-one play. Against a disciplined team with a plan, you better hope your outside shots are falling. If they aren't, you get shown up and embarrassed.

Somewhat true.
Any Coach L has lost the last 7 games to FSU.

As stilted as our offense has become, I truly believe Coach L is the better offensive game strategist (those wins over the years against the ACC blue bloods - with an inferior team usually - didn't happen by luck) .

VT lost the game vs UF but I was struck again by the great job Mike Young has done there. He's got a team full of xfers from places like the U of Delaware, Wofford, etc. who are mixed in with a few Preps/JuCos and a bunch of mainly nondescript HS recruits.

In other words, unheralded players who play extremely "tough" for him. His game management and his team's effort at both ends of the court appear to be the difference between finishing 3rd in the ACC vs finishing last.

they do play hard, but they are small so eventually they do wear down :

if ever there was a chance of winning the ACC it was this year: ACC basketball was really bad this year
