My biggest questions going into Fall Camp scrimmage #1 (Q1 UPDATE)

Great follow-up.

I know it’s only three games in … but unreal.

Sure it’s small a sample size, especially since a lot of our TDs have come out of the redzone, but 100% is phenomenal 12 quarters in. Are there any other 100% teams out there, Lu?

Last year we literally couldn’t punch it in from the 2 with four downs. Multiple times.
There are 28 other teams with a 100% RZ scoring percentage. Too early for that one, I think, but CLEARLY different than what we saw last year. (Obviously)

After the first quarter of our season:

1. Will Dawson be allowed to do his thing?

Dawson's aggressive approach is plain to see. Let's keep it going.

2. Physicality, health, and depth

We've already gotten hit on the DL, but I think we're "relatively" healthy and let's hope it continues.

3. Comparison to TVD's 2021 flashes

TVD is clearly more comfortable, and the presumed regression to TVD's previous flashes is positive.

a) from 117th in TDs/game (1.9!) to something competent like 40th (which is estimated at 3.6 TDs/game)

*We are currently ranked 14th at 4.5 TDs/game.*

(b) from 104th in Yards Per Play (4.8) to something more like 40th (which is estimated around 6 yards per play)

*We are currently ranked 4th at 8 yards/play.*

(c) from 77th in 3rd down conversion % (37.7%) to something more like 40th (which is estimated at 41%)

*We are currently ranked 85th at 37.5% yards/play. I'm sure this is an area they're targeting to work on.*

(d) from 117th in Points Per Play (.267!) to something halfway reasonable like 50th (which is estimated at .4)

*We are currently ranked 5th at .729 points/play.*

(e) from 110th in RZ % (76.3%!) to something competent like 50th (which is estimated at 85%)

*We are currently ranked 1st at 100%. This is skewed because it's still the beginning of the season and we need a larger sample size.*

(f) from 114th in Points per game (19.4, left the critical one for last) to something competent like 44th (which is estimated at 30PPG)

*We are currently ranked 7th at 43 points/game.*
Still early but Gawd Bless the Air Raid!

With all the big plays, third down conversion percentage is less of a telling statistic. It’s not a big deal at all especially this early in the season, or as you put it:

“This is skewed because it's still the beginning of the season and we need a larger sample size.*”
Thanks for the statistics and the follow up.

great stuff Lu

On the physicality part, we’ve got some injuries but it’s hard to say how much it’s going to effect us since we get zero info

But when it comes to “physicality” I’m gonna say this has been the most physical team in recent memory. These guys play with violence and discipline which makes up for some of our deficiencies for sure
