I feel like there's probably not enough data here but I wonder if anyone's actually looked into recruits that re-classify and whether what % of those end up becoming busts.

All I know is Mark Walton re-classified and was one of the most productive backs metric wise in UM history. It can work, especially if you’re being developed properly.
