Maybe this is what finally wakes up the UM administration to start taking football seriously!

Winners like Texas?
They’ve won and been competitive more recently then us and have shown to have an admin/BOt that isn’t playing games that is all about football and will fire people ASAP for not winning championships! They also have a huge following and a packed 100,000 seat stadium every Saturday along with an alumni that will do and spend anything $$$ to win! That and a many,
Many other things that UM doesn’t have or isn’t interested at all in getting sport.

You act as though every team in every conference has those things, so is it safe to assume then that Vandy, Rutgers, Northwestern etc. will soon be jettisoned from their respective conferences? ****, Miami outdraws eight of the teams in the Pac 12(pre-COVID) in average over the last five years.
Did you read the article? Because yes all those teams you listed will be jettisoned! That’s exactly what the article/video is saying. These big teams are no longer interested in carrying middle of the road teams that don’t give a **** about football and aren’t bringing anything to the table anymore. Football is the only thing that matters anymore $$$. Even basketball doesn’t mean **** as Kansas the blue blood of all blue bloods in that sport could be left out in the cold because their football team sucks!

FSU is broke and total dog**** on the field. What about them?
True but they do have an admin that as shown it will do what it takes to win in the modern era of CFB. I know you would agree we haven’t shown that yet Go and I believe we better start ASAP or like I said it could get really scary for us real quick. It’s time to get off the welfare line at UM and start taking football deadly seriously in my opinion. Oh and thanks for the welcome back my friend, hope you’ve been well. 👍

This isn't 'only' Miami's fault. ACC pandered to the basketball and lacrosse schools of the world to make their Tabacco Road schools happy, has ALL the schools locked in to a nasty clause till 2036 and have zero insight in to the future.
Yes Pandering to all 12.8 lacrosse scholarships spread out between 32 guys at any one time. Such pandering!

Is Texas really not playing games when the coach they just brought in avg 6.5 wins in 7 years as a HC?

Dumb comments like this show your not seeing the point of the article posted in this thread and the bigger picture of the future of big time CFB. A future Miami could easily be left out of along with a bunch of other has been once upon of time great programs. Take your Orange and green shades off and read the article and then you’ll understand what we’re talking about here. Texas football is big time, that’s why the SEC wants them. Miami used to be big time which is why the acc wanted us until they got us and were then exposed/embarrassed for being hoodwinked by UM as we just wanted to get in so we could get our welfare meal ticket every year. Smh I would imagine the acc isn’t to happy about having the wool pulled over there eyes with our performance since joining them 17 years ago.

Viewership still matter and I don't get where people are coming up with this narrative it doesn't. Cable is no longer the top dog but it's still the same game.
Viewership doesn’t matter as much anymore with cord cutting versus good ole fashioned packed stadiums every Saturday which if you read the article you would have seen. One of the reasons for OU and Texas moving to the sec per the article was dwindling attendance in the games against the scrubs of the big 12 Conference which is pretty much everyone besides Texas and OU. Lol

I said from the beginning that there is more power and money up for grabs in college football than ever before and Location and schedules will be irrelevant to how many teams a conference will accept. They will take whoever will increase their bargaining position for tv revenue and power for future decision making. Looks like there’s going to be the sec and maybe two other conferences in the next tier down.

If all these schools are forming their own super Conference, how will it work geography wise? We aren't going to be able to get USCw, Oregon, or anyone from out there to commit to a conference out east and we wont go out west? U****boys blocked Miami and FSU from joining the SEC many years ago and they did it again before Miami joined ACC when we where looking. Whats the solution? How does Norte Lame fit into this, they aren't joining a conference anytime soon and giving up all that money.

In what world did everybody not see this coming? The ACC wanted Miami for football to get ahold of the Miami FSU rivalry. That doesn’t mean it was ever gonna prioritize football. The ACC was built on basketball from triangle schools in North Carolina. That was always the formula and always will be. Did you think they wanted Pitt for anything other than basketball? What about Syracuse?

There have been exactly zero indicators that the ACC was ever gonna go all in on football.

All I can say is interesting time in front of us my friend. All we can do is grab the popcorn, keep are fingers crossed and see what it all looks like after the dust settles.

The ACC deal gave UM leadership exactly what they wanted; Guaranteed revenue without having to produce on the field.

Keep that mindset in mind when considering any moves UM may or may not make going forward.
This has been compounded by the move to HRS. The school gets revenue from the ACC and they get revenue from people obsessed with tailgating. They don't feel any pressure to field a winning product.

Agree with everything you said buddy. But based on the recent comments of our new commissioner, the acc May have finally seen the writing on the wall with there mortality on the line. And because of that things might be changing really fast if the acc wants to survive. Because In this new age of big time CFB it’s definitely the thinnest line ever between between surviving and going the way of the dinosaur. This is some seriously compelling stuff here going on here now and in the not so distant future.

To what @NicKane said, Miami was supposed to have brought that to the table. But Shalala took the guaranteed checks and used it towards the academics instead of football.
