MAX SQUAT DAYYY

We are all missing a big item in that picture. Jennings. Would have to be healthy enough to provide a spot for a heavy-ish lift no?

Just lift where you can control the weight, which maxing doesn't do.

Yeah, they need to lift. It's part of the deal. There will be long term damage from it. Let's not make it catastrophic.

(If you're over 40 and still squat heavy, get a CT scan of your vertebrae, please)

What’s your definition of “heavy”?

That's a banded squat in a still image that looks around parallel and doesn't tell you anything other than the fact they've trained knees out by using a band. Doesn't look like an ego squat at all. Biggest issue is mouth open, meaning that he's losing air and possibly not bracing correctly, which should be corrected.

Also you can 100% get a good spot on a squat. It's called side spotting, but considering they are using bumper plates on a platform they can just bail pretty easily as well.

Lots of you guys have obviously never done strength sports if you think a testing day is super dangerous.

And, that lift didn’t look like more than three 20k plates per side. Hardly a max effort for a 200lb RB. Also, it’s a high bar squat so the lifter should be trained how to bail. Low bar - use a cage.

Shut up so-called “experts”.

This is how it’s done:

Its an unnecessary movement imo. Hes not trying to be one of these fitness chicks is he? then no need to do that. Focus on lifts that actually improve athletic performance. Just like for deadlifts I would have these guys all using hook grip or using straps so they dont put themselves at unnecessary risk of tearing a bicep using a mixed grip

Hook grip? Kills my thumbs. Probably need to spend more time on it.

Straps? Great idea for ‘high’ volume or near-max efforts.

This is stupid.

If it's programmed correctly, there is nothing wrong with squatting heavy for singles. I'm assuming Feeley knows how to program, and there is nothing wrong with using a bit of competition to keep people going in the weight room.

That said, they better be good squats, and not ego squats.
Feeley is a professional with Experience who knows what he is doing. All players doing lifts, have a chart with their potential, so it in a controlled environment, programmed correctly........no worries....it is competition.

Posters on here advocating non squats...

Also it’s quite obvious they hardly ever “Max out” as this is way overly hyped up and made a big social media event to get hyped up.
