Maurice Smith Alabama DB transfer

If he's graduated can't he go to another program and play the next year without restriction? As long as he's enrolled in graduate school?

Yes. But I'm saying that Alabama tried talking him into staying. It wasn't just a thing where they signed the papers and sent him on his way.

Would you say this would affect our '17 DB class any if he transfers?

Lol... Now what sense does that make...? He would be gone before they get on campus

You got me there. I'll go back to my corner. Lol

I find it interesting too that Bama fans are upset about the fact he's leaving. And from what I understand, their staff was reluctant to let him go because he was expected to contribute.

i work with a bama fan connected to the program, I'll ask him tomorrow when i report for shift

After you ask him go ahead and punch him square in the throat.

Very true....

Wouldn't be surprised to see Young out there, perhaps on returns...

Would be huge... now we dont have to rush Malek Young or Cedrick Wright..they both can Red-shirt and develop a little bit.... Young might get Snaps though

Tuscaloosa is a tough place...and hella boring as well. Perhaps the reason for him leaving lies there somewhere.

I like this pickup but yall need to stop sleeping on Redwine. He has that "Miami CB Mentality" that everyone on here likes to bring up. He's not just gonna lay down and give that spot up.

Funny how the Secondary was looking so bad now with some transfers its not that bad and I really do believe that Coach Rumph will have these boys ready.

I was just about to say this. Redwine was good in the limited action he saw last year. I'm not on the Colbert bandwagon yet.

Colbert isn't starting over Redwine.... Colbert will likely be nothing more than a dime CB if that. He has great speed but that's about it.... It'll be Elder and Redwine starting and Smith rotating in. I really think it would benefit the whole D if Elder went to nickel while Redwine and Smith played outside. Elder is our best playmaker in the secondary and has the quickness to play the inside which to me is his best position.

I would think he believes being on the field gives him a better shot at the league, or if at worst, a masters from the U.

If he is here they are both going to play a lot, so arguing who is better is senseless, IMO.

He can have mentality all he wants but if he cant get the job done he just cant. Redwine struggled in the spring so his spot isnt safe.

Rumph already said corn is going to play nb in those situations.

No reason to doubt DBs Saban has. Take the kid in a heartbeat and smile. Every NFL scout is watching Miami next year because of Kaaya. Sure, they watch Bama all the time, but starting CB gets more looks than part time play. Plus, little more passing in ACC than SEC. We had 1st round CB from last year and it doesn't take much to remind NFL of what Miami use to produce in secondary -- no body wants to miss the next Reed. Smart move by the kid.

Got it. He just must not be happy either with perceived playing time, position, or a combination thereof

Antonio Crawford was a stud in my opinion and he left what would have been a starting position to go to WVU. So it happens. Sometimes dudes just want a clean slate.
