Martell at WR

So tate who just started getting reps at wr a week ago is a better option than payton?
Here is my assumption. With Tate having played QB, he knows all the plays and routes for every receiver position which makes him valuable if someone went down.

By far Payton is more talented but he may not understand the playbook

Well they probably will now fast track him to get ready to play

Alot of you are missing the point. Everytime Tate is on the field as an actual WR its one less guy the D has to worry about. He’s not a threat to catch the ball.
From what I saw..they didn’t just let Tate run free..I get what your saying in theory..but I did not see Florida plate him like a wild cat, put Malik out wide situation..did he make a catch no, but he didn’t look stupid or like he shouldn’t be out there..that’s jmo

Here come the excuse makers with Pope was injured. Even with his injury why not put Thomas at slot the rest of the way and Wiggins or Hightower outside. It never happened. We heard all off-season how guys were working different positions we go to the guy who had been practicing at WR for a week. This wasn't about Pope's injury. This was 100% favoritism and it was disappointing to see. Hopefully this isnt an all season thing.
Thomas and Pope play the same position.

In practice, a wideout typically only learns one position. An older player typically can learn multiple positions in time.

This is me just going off the depth chart and is just speculation so take with a grain of salt. Hartley does not have a back up. Hartley plays the F position and his back up is a walk-on

Wiggins and Hightower may not know the other positions which kept the staff from having the option to reshuffle

And Hightower? Any time I saw him on the field he was getting in the way. He threw off at least two running plays I can recall by getting pushed into the play, Hopefully it was just a tough night for some of those guys.

Some of y’all just don’t know football. Tate being on the field as a DECOY certainly made a difference on the DJ runs. That was the game plan THIS WEEK. Pope and whomever else will have their opportunities.

go back and watch the defenders reactions that opened up a crease. Folks acting like he played significant snaps and had plays designed to get him the ball smh. He served his purpose in his packages that worked.

Huge mistake by Enos.

HUGE.

Complete waste of player available on field.

Can see other WRs transferring if he ever steps foot in active game play again.

DISAGREE. The only thing the lizards saw after Martell's first wasted play was, "a player we don't have to account for".

Tate played because of an injury. Tate is also a threat/decoy that defenders pay attention to. Whether they should or not is a question.

Tate Martell cost this team nothing in this game. Jeff Thomas cost the team 14 points, Baxa cost the team 3 points, and the offensive line and play calling cost the team everything. At no point did Martell lose this game, at no point did he help win the game. The amount of whining about him is astounding.

wrong bc if jt catches the **** td we don't go for a FG which was missed.

Insult to the receivers imo. It seems like they were trying to set up a play and the play Dallas scored on at the beginning of the 4th quarter martell motioned and drew some attention of uf defense feeeing up Dallas. But martell doesn’t need to be out there running routes given the other receivers on the team

go back and look. At least 2 gators took a false step that opened a crease for DJ.

It's fine for him to be out there with DJ in the wildcat but if Jarren is at QB, sit his *** down. Also, why did we never go back to DJ at wildcat after his TD but we have Martell 2 or 3 plays at wildcat and they all ended in nothing. They were just forcing Tate out there to get him on the field which I don't get because he doesn't even seem like that type of athlete to me.
