Mario says he had to relearn how to let loose during game time

Never thought it was Dawson. During the SMU game the commentator made a brief comment about speaking with Dawson and Dawson mentioned he had to "get complacent being boring."

Last year defense was not that great so we needed to sling the ball around. This year the defense was better so 28 points was what they thought was needed to win games.

It was very brief comment by the commentator and he never followed up on it.

I'm exhausted from the chicken and egg argument with Mario and Dawson. The only thing that matters is the offense was clearly different after the SMU game.
Or was it different *during* the SMU game?

Depends on the outcome. If we had won then people would be sticking to their guns. But since we lost they all forget that they were squealing like hyenas in the game thread about how "right" they were and how the fan base "caused positive change."

It was always a Mario issue with the offense. Glad he realized he was the sand in the 50 cal chamber preventing optimum firepower. Now let's rock n roll.
When the offense is "good" then Mario got out of the way. If it's "bad" then it's Mario's fault for meddling.

It's confirmation bias. It's just playing the result.

This fan base is just as bad as all of the outsiders who make Mario jokes based on perception and nothing else.

He acknowledged that he almost forgot where he played and the teams that he was on...he mentioned Jimmy Johnson who said in the U documentary ..."You saw two things on the field the things I coached them to do and the things I allowed them to do"....you can coach players hard and still let them have fun, the right kind of player respects both

Nah

Oh, I remember now.

You're the mod who admitted that he didn't know anything about football but still insisted on telling people what to and how to think or face the consequences.
I'm not a mod. And, if you go back to the post, I explicitly said not to ban you. Keep it steady.

he's from the Saban tree after all. Saban was the same there for a few years and then once Saban finally said "alright, let's let it go on offense, they had that stretch there where their offenses were **** near impossible to stop. He decided to get out of the way and let his ELITE OCs do their job.

Hopefully this is finally the same moment for Mario. As I've said in multiple threads before, I want NOTHING more than Mario to lead the U back to its rightful place and for him to be here for years to come and should this finally be the moment he let's go a little bit, this could be the start of one fun ride!!!

You're moving the goal posts. And, avoiding the point. Breaking tendency is still a strategic football decision that was different before and after.
People whined because it didn't work. Period.

Hence why they were claiming big "changes" early in the game but then immediately got amnesia after the game and complained about conservatism.

We didn't block it up on those 4th downs.

You're just throwing out cliches about goal posts moving, etc.

Absolutely . Anyone with a brain could see early in the year he was purposely sitting on leads and trying not to lose rather than win the game . That’s why I was ****ed after ND and FSU. Neither game had any business being that close. He loosened things up after the SMU debacle and things got more creative and less obvious . Which is why I gave him props with how we ended the season . Regardless it’s time to move on.
exactly. we need to move on. this is the new norm (i hope).

Sorry, administrator who didn't know anything but threatened consequences.
By saying I'm not a mod it means I don't do any of the banning or consequences. Ha. I actually never threatened consequences - the opposite. You're lying. And, it shows weakness. I've now attempted to discuss football with you. Good luck.

Mario in the SMU and Louisville game looked like me in High School when I had the screaming ***** and was trying to make it to bathroom to take a dump without anyone knowing . Sweating profusely and all. But to his credit he made small adjustments , breaking tendencies being the biggest adjustment
true story?

It was 0-0 with about 5 minutes to go in the 2nd quarter at home against one of the worst p4 teams. We had 4 possessions, ran 24 plays for 72 yards. 2 sacks and an INT called back due to penalty. On tv the body language was bad and there was no juice. **** was ready to collapse, the only saving grace was going to be that Syracuse was so bad we’d just over power them in the end (like Stanford) and grind out a W. But the next drive something changes. We hit 25 yard catch and run to Marion, a yard 8 run by Brown, a 41 yard screen to upshaw, 12 yards to Moore then we throw the TD to Beck. We started to let it rip.

It was as if the clouds disappeared. The veil lifted. Everyone was excited. The crowd got life. 3 plays later it’s a pick 6 and for the most part we haven’t looked back since. That 3 and half minute span was the turning point in our season.

I don't know why people whined. I won't attempt to read minds.

If your definition of knowing and talking football is "we didn't block it up" as a response to a 13/13 tendency piece of evidence to show how we got tight, then so be it.

No idea how that's a "cliche."

Again, it was an attempt to engage in football discussion. Ah well.

The way he acted when we got the 4th down stop against Pitt was unlike any emotion he's ever shown during a football game. After games, sure. But he looked like he won the Powerball when Lucas knocked that kid out of bounds. I think that's a lot of what he's talking about, not necessarily X's and O's. Go have fun and don't white-knuckle the ***** every second.
