Mario says he had to relearn how to let loose during game time

The phrase "handcuffing the offense" was invented on CIS. There are many versions of it that all end up with the same interpretation

It's a complete nonsense phrase employed by bozos who don't know what they're watching but want to ***** and complain in the same cliche ways that all of their buddies named Laz do.

It's groupthink for dummies.

Again, more people making stuff up.

Posters here were certain that the SMU game was where the "change" occurred.

Confirmation bias all around.

Nobody here can ever be wrong or biased.
You’re obviously an idiot that don’t know what you’re looking at . We broke tendencies which was obvious with anyone with a set of eyes . We also started using MT in wildcat , in motion and him throwing . More outside zone and use of Pringle . Also more 10 and 11 personnel. Instead of running into loaded boxes we broke tendency and sold run action . Things have been far less conservative and predictable . That’s where the whole “ guys are having fun stuff came from”. Being conservative and predictable isn’t fun especially when loaded boxes fly downhil every short yardage

The week leading up to the playoff selection, I think we saw a different side of Mario. Relaxed. Enjoying the process. Funny. He seems to have let loose of the stranglehold of trying to control every aspect of the team and let it rip. Maybe this was his light bulb moment and came to the realization that he can’t control everything and needs to let his staff and players just go have some fun.
Mario in the SMU and Louisville game looked like me in High School when I had the screaming ***** and was trying to make it to bathroom to take a dump without anyone knowing . Sweating profusely and all. But to his credit he made small adjustments , breaking tendencies being the biggest adjustment

This is not "taking the handcuffs off" the offense.

This is trickery/in the bag stuff.

I already staid this.

Our tempo never changed. Our bread and butter never changed. Dawson was in his bag for the last month. More end arounds, reverses, WR passes, etc.

We did *not* stop running inside/outside zone, etc.

So it was Mario and not Dawson.

Glad the noise got so loud he had to listen. Offense has looked great since that SMU game.

I think this season may change Mario forever. I posted in other threads the light may have finally come on to play to win and blow people out. Going into a shell almost cost them more games this year.

You can dominate people and still be creative on offense.

Mario looks so much more relaxed and having fun with it all.

[Maude Edit: Title changed from “Mario admits he handcuffed offense” to “Mario says he had to relearn how to let loose during game time” to accurately reflect what he said during the interview, a link to which OP didn’t provide]
Mario speak for exactly what you said.

Some will never be happy. I’ll take the change that’s clearly happened over semantics any day. That’s the proof.

To me, that was the final box to check. He recruits like a madman, but it seems like he's been intrusive with the offensive gameplan, holding back the talent that he brought in. The season changed with 2:22 left in the 2nd quarter of the Syracuse game, with the throwback to Beck. They would not have passed the eye test, much less won out, if they'd continued the A-gap offense.

Toney at QB, as wildcat or throwing the ball, puts a huge stress on a defense. Pringle is the RB I thought Lyle would be. I still think Lyle's ankle is not right. He ran better last year. I hope he stays, but I could see him transferring.
The final box to check is championships
