Mario on Joe Rose talking TAMU Game

I don’t blame coaching for lack of execution. Dropped balls fumbles and missed field goals are all the intangibles of football. That’s why on any given day anyone can be beat. We beat ourselves and yet we were still in the game till the end. It’s hard to even think with the level of noise in that stadium with 100,000 fans. Last year we would have gotten crushed, quit and been a real embarrassment. Looking to this game from the off season I really didn’t expect to win. Mistakes aside, I saw what I was hoping for. We Have a dream staff and if not for those intangibles we probably walk away with a win. Playing at A&M is a lot different than green tree.

TVD has been off all season but a couple of quarters.... time for him step and lead with passion...
... was disappointed in his wimpy cutting out to the sidelines when we needed that 3rd down desperately.. should have bulled that DB down with his weight and size

I agree with this. With his size he should be barrelling over guys but overall his play was not as bad as people are railing about. Did he have a subpar game, yes. But it wasn't all on him. And he has always been a guy to start off slow. It's like he needs to get in a rhythm and build confidence. This is year two though. The training wheels and coaches coddling need to stop

For those who don’t have time to listen, Mario is clearly unhappy with our WR’s. Said he expects everyone to stay after practice and catch 100 balls. I’m pretty sure Parrish will be doing this as well.
He was also unhappy with TS’s terrible decision on the punt.
And he made a comment that pouting and negotiating doesn’t earn playing time. I maybe wrong but I assume that is about Tae Williams.

No WR jobs will be safe this off season but for Restrepo because he will continue to outwork and out perform everyone.
Finally accountability that has been lacking. Mario gets it not sugar coating or make excuses for anyone will pay dividends .

For the WR coaches here, what do you think they are doing wrong?

Several drops seemed to be lack of concentration and focus with the ball slipping off open receivers.

They need to improve how they practice to improve thier skills. Doing the same sub-par technique x100 just ingrains it even more.
They are just scared. It's completely mental. They need a couple sessions with a great sports Psyche.

Drops will happen from time to time. It's how you react after that drop.

I get all the Gattis complaints, but he succeeded at Michigan with what appeared to be less talent at WR and QB.
So are our players dumber than the Michigan players who grasped his offense? Of course it took some time at Michigan for it all to come together and maybe that is the same story here but we might just waste a season of TVD trying to get this right.

His passing offense always left a lot to be desired.

As a point of reference, he only had 2 receivers in 3 years catch 700 yards. He had another barely over 600 yards. The rest, 400 yards and some change or lower. No matter how you slice it, players or scheme, he's not someone who any WR or QB should be excited to see walk into a room.

Im going to get a Michigan guy in here for y’all to debunk this. When it was 100% all him he didn’t succeed. When harbough stepped in he won the Broyles
I made this exact point in another thread. This board just completely glossed over that he was a failure until they took the reigns away and put training wheels on him. All of a sudden he's the best assistant in the country. Lmao OK. Then they didn't give two craps when he left. But Broyles Award bro!

Need to incorporate more smokes and bubbles. We got yards on that. Even 4-6 yards keeps the box honest, gets the ball in space, and gets TVD in rhythm. It’s not all big adjustments…

Smokes and Bubbles? Have you seen our WRs and Mallory block?

Change my mind: Borregales is not the answer at kicker

ACC specialist of the week on week 2. Shanked one and the other blocked (which may or may not have been on him) last game. Most of his kickoffs are touchbacks. I wouldn't put him to pasture just yet. Boy, you guys are harsh.

“We gotta continue to create opportunities and things schematically to enhance our passing game”

Key quote from Mario. Hopefully he’s putting heat on Gattis

I wonder of George wasn’t suspended whether TS would have been the starting returner. That question should be answered this week.

George should've been out there then. He's been practicing returns.
