Mario on Gattis / Staff

Nobody is going to pay him anything close to what Miami is paying anymore.

He’s also córched himself out of a HC job that would possibly pay that much.

If he was a smart man, he’d make them fire him and buy him out. Otherwise, he’s leaving a ton of $ on the table.
But getting fired hurts his resume as well.

What he needs to do is take any OC job he can get or a much smaller HC job than he was being considered for before and ask us to pay him the difference in lieu of being fired.

You are correct. Getting fired hurts the resume, but it does get him paid.

What's all that supposed to mean?? Just a lot of words...
At least he didn't say Gattis didn't forget how to coach...

It means this team is 5-6 and had underachieved this year and decisions will be made at the end of the season despite armchair quarterback fans expecting September firings.

Let it all play out and ignore the coach-speak as you're never going to get straight answers from P5 head coaches at this level over moves like this.

Not really.

Easy spin job from his agent as it was a one-year experiment that went south. They can make up their bevy of reasons as to why and sell him as the "Broyles Award Winner" from one short years ago, with success at Michigan and Alabama before a stumble at Miami.

Worse for all involved if he has a second bad season on his resume than the mulligan he can take after a one-year, bad fit experience.

The OC hire is a make or break. Its a shame to be at that point so quickly but we been here before with Manny. Manny passed that first test with flying colors and still didn’t make it in the end.
Please. CSI trashed Lashlee the whole time he was here. Those few games when TVD started was the only time they showed love. Lashlee was a okay OC

seeing how gattis is publicly, hes gonna **** talk Mario to the moon when hes fired

he was good not elite. talent will always be an issue for him while he was here but he ran two diff offenses with two completely diff types of QBs and produced our best seasons in 20 years on O. he was our best OC since the glory days. he also provided the path to what miami could look like in a modern offense w a forward thinking OC and SFL talent. give lashlee what Mario will end up recruiting here esp that OL (lash does like to run the ball contrary to what people think) and he'd run the conference on O.

All i am saying is this:

2019: 6-7 with Enos, he gets fired

2020: 8-3 with Lashlee and King and significant increase in offensive production

You wouldn’t call that passing with flying colors? Would you not take those kind of results next year? Suuuuuure you would!

he put up consistent numbers that would be in the top 1/3 of CFB with meh talent and diff rosters from QB to WRs. he was able to adjust and produce. we got gattis saying he ran 3 diff offenses but none of the 3 produced.

Staying with your wife through the Christmas holidays just because it’s holiday season knowing your gonna divorce her on January 2nd makes no sense. Just get it over with and spend Christmas being happy. jmo
Fair enough. You’re a good poster with good insights. Just saying I don’t think it’s a big deal personally.

Maybe he’s learned his lesson. You obviously have to leave room for that in the conversation.

But anyone that takes a top 35 offense and dismantles it for the sake of “his vision” for what an offense is supposed to be is really discouraging. Film of the games we played last year would’ve told you spread them out and use pace was for the best because there’s such a lack of talent on the OL.

Anyone with half a brain on this message board would’ve said tweak the offense and focus on the defense. That’s obviously not what happened here.
Aren’t you kind of assuming a lot here about Mario and his role in the offense?

How did his offense look against Bama? CSI loves average. How did he look against Clemson. Gattis is soo terrible that now Lashlee is a good OC. No, he average.

His offense looked like it lacked the talent to compete against those teams, so did our defense. Fast forward now i al being told the talent can’t compete with MTSU

Since our OC's since the glory days have been trash, that makes Lashlee good. SMH. What his offense do against Clemson and Bama? NOTHING.
