I want mario to succeed. End of story.
I just dont want to see golden repeated in miami and this offense makes me think it could happen.
I get that, & u have every right to feel that way.
All I asked in the off season was for everyone to give it two yrs. I think Mario is a high quality coach. Riley, Dabo, Saban level? No; but, I do think we’ll be very successful under Mario.
Right now he’s shown an ability to adapt to personnel. He wanted us to be a power spread O, where we dictated the L.O.S, but unfortunately that’s not possible w/ the personnel we have. We’re now throwing the ball more times than ever b4 in his tenure as a HC these last two game. (Herbert had back to back games of 44 & 48 attempts vs. TVD’s 57 & 46 attempts)
What we need is an infusion of talent across multiple layers, namely OL, WR, CB. NIL is a key, but I’ve stated multiple times that NIL will have its limitations for us b/c:
1. Schools who were under the table bag $ would now be up front bags $, &
2. Kids r still going to go to schools that r pumping out NFL talent.
I’ll give u a NCAAB example: UNC just played for the Nat’l Title & was a couple minutes away from winning it all. Y r they still losing top recruits to Duke & UK? B/c Duke & UK r flooding the NBA w/ one & dones. UNC ain’t put out chit in over 20 yrs of a player worth a ****, despite winning more titles than Duke & UK since 2000.
NIL will grab a couple of guys, but until The U gets back to being NFL U or at least a semblance of it, NIL will put us in the game, but not secure the best of the best consistently, especially when the best (school wise) can match or expand on their NILs. (See Bryce Young & Caleb Williams in national commercials)
