F Renner...His terrible gameday coaching beat #1 FSU in 2000...and Destroyed Mr. Visor thrower (A GREAT gameday coach) in 2001. Easy to call him terrible with what he had to deal with at UM. There wasn't a So called Great game day coach in America that could duplicate what he did 25yrs ago. ****** *** Renner has alot of room to talk...

Dude dont get offended. Its well known butch isnt great on gameday. He doesnt have to be. He is probably the best talent evaluator of all time.


I wish butch would of coached here 20 years. Im not saying i dont like him. Just that gameday was his weakness.

They aren't facts. I didn't think there were still people who believed that a current roster is the exact reflection of "stars" a guy had when he was recruited. That was an early internet flaw, like in 2000. We know better now.

If Dave Clawson can take less talent just coach them up, it wouldn't have taken him until year 8 to do it. He needed players just like everyone else.

This goes right back to the point that has been proven over and over: our south Florida "stars" are paper heroes. They might have measurables, but they don't win. But you think number of stars = talent.

Chasing two-point conversions at Washington was bad game day coaching and didn't have anything to do with being down 31 scholarships in 1995.

He won 7 in his 3rd. 8 in his 4th. 7 in his 5th. 8 in his 6th.

7 wins at wake is 9 at miami. 11 wins at wake is 2001 canes for wake forest.


Clawson would skull**** miami.

I said we havent had a great coach since before butch. I was including all others in that statement.


Butch is lightyears ahead of the ones after him.

Yes, 8 years. Wake Forest is a Power 5 program. Jim Grobe won 11 games there. Quit acting like they are Killian High School.

Of course, Clawson would just kill us. Kind of like how Justin Fuente was going to "push our sheet in" for years to come.

Yes and grobe was the laziest recruiter you have ever seen at the end. You have no clue what clawson stepped into. Wake needed a rebuild. Miami should be 4-1 right now and looking to win the coastal.

Nope, I compared idiotic Miami fan comments to idiotic Miami fan comments. People on this board never learn, no matter how many times they are wrong about a coach who "would kill it here".

I realize he had his flaws...he knows more than anyone. But what I love about him aside from them is, the ability to work on those flaws as time went on. You could see in 99 and 2000 that they improved. His use of the clock vs FSU in 2000 on the final drive was evidence. The guy had alot on his plate for 6yrs. @WanderFranco will tell you in ref to your discussion with him about South FL kids...Butch went against the grain and recruited all over the country. Go count how many quality kids we had from other regions from 95-2000 and it dispells the Myth that you can't afford to lose recruiting battles in Dade/Broward. There's Great players from all over the country, and Butch capitalized on it. Butch had his claws in Cali, Texas, New Jersey, Louisiana and so on. He didn't forget about S. Fl...but he didn't put his eggs in one basket either. He went Nation Wide.
