Mario Addresses Disgruntled Parents

The unfortunate thing is that the parents are just publicly posting things that their kids may have been privately venting.

Sure the kids should know better. But I don't blame the kids for venting to their parents.. I'm sure the parents didn't post that stuff on social media with their kid's blessing.

Khamauri for example was probably told he'd be dressing for the GT game and he told his parents. Then he didn't dress and his dad was obviously disappointed..and before even hearing from khamauri or the coaches to get an explanation, he posted on social media out of frustration.

I noticed he deleted it all.
My understanding was that he did dress but didn’t get in the game (unless I misread what the dad poRsted).

Regardless, I feel for the kid. Been nicked up all year.. Had to fight through the freshman blues, homesick, grinding.. probably just venting like you said. Pops of all people (coach) should be speaking truth to him. Grind it out. This shall pass. Your day will come, etc.

Really puts the young man in a terrible position.

It's not "strong arming" or "bullying" to expect parents to STFU and not run to social media whenever they don't get an immediate response from "speaking to the coaches" (as you seem to think has actually happened).

And no coach should have to "earn" the right to tell the parents to STFU.

Was Jimmy Johnson supposed to kowtow to Jeff George and his family, simply because JJ was a barely-over-.500 coach before coming to Miami, and had never won a championship (at the time he was recruiting George to transfer from Purdue)?

Was Dennis Erickson supposed to blow Bryan Fortay and his father, just because Erickson was a barely-over-.500 coach at Wyoming and Washington State, and had also never won a championship (at the time)?

There are well over 100 Division I-A schools. There are plenty of kids who don't get the "playing time" that they or their parents think they should be getting. "Step 2" in the grievance process (after "trying to talk to the coaches") is not "run to social media and whine like a *****". Look around the country, and name all of the "****ed off parents" who are whining on social media. You'll find a few, but it's certainly not the prevalent "second step" that you make it out to be.

Mario is absolutely right in this situation, and he doesn't need to "earn" any right to speak his mind on helicopter parents. And there is absolutely no "strong arming" or "bullying" going on here.

You should get an infraction for false information. "Bullying"... What kind of a pvssy alleges that in this situation?
Ironically Jeff George's kid is presently on the roster. For better or for worse Mario has been given charge of this team.

What players do you guys think will hit the portal? Purely guessing

Jake Garcia
Thad Franklin
Jalen Harrell

Romello Brinson
Avantae Williams
Keyshawn Smith
Avery Huff

Chantz Williams
Keyshawn Smith
Jacolby George
Khamari Rodgers
Tecroy Couch
Isiah Dunson
Out of that group.

I dont know why yall constantly post guys that play alot as transfer czaandidates like Tecory Couch etc.

And even Rogers i believe will be contigent on if Addae is back.

Weeding out the rot from this roster one player at a time. No idea who it was but if you quit this late in the season, see yah.

And some of y’all have the audacity to say the roster and culture isn’t a problem lol. Manny kissed their a$$, Mario brought out the chancla

I’m convinced that culture has been our problem the last 20 years; as it was our biggest strength when we were winning.

I agree with the coach but I was born in the early 80s and I left home at 18 (haven’t been back but to visit parents) to join the military so maybe my opinion is a bit harsh. Age 19, 20ish, it’s time to start learning to handle life as an adult. You have a problem with your boss either work harder or request to talk to your boss face to face to see what you need to do and or improve on. Not run to your momma at 19 and 20ish crying and they tweeting.

Coming from someone with a 21 year old.

By the way, Gilbert Frierson handled it the correct way.

Same here, born in the 70's. At 18 I was in the Navy, 19 Married with a child, and on my first 6 month deployment that turned into 9 months. My view on the is probably not going to be in line with today's kids.

Naval history buff here…what ship were you on?

FFG-21 USS Flatley (Oliver Hazzard Perry class frigate) then DD983 USS John Rogers (Spruance Class destroyer). Decom them both. I had a choice to EAOS or goto another ship, I was due two shore duties and they were going to send me to another ship, which was the USS Cole. I would have been one of the ones lost on it due to my rating and where they were at during Sea and Anchor detail. A bunch of folks from my previous ship were on the Cole when it was hit, so I struggle with that fact. I am close to that ship even though I was never attached to it, miss a bunch of folks that were effected by it, bunch of friends were lost and hurt.
