Lingard in the Portal

There is so much that should be done for these young men. For starters, make sure they get a **** education while at school. Secondly, make **** sure they understand that football doesn't last forever, and that if they don't save their money, they won't have much to fall back on if they don't take their education seriously. Lastly, teach them HOW to save and invest, and show them what happens when you don't.

That's one thing that really bothers me about so many so called schools. They do whatever they can to get these young men in, but don't get them the education they need to succeed in life. Many of them get so much help to pass, they learn very little. I would love to see former players welcomed back to school when their playing days are done so they can actually focus on an education, not football.
This is where I was torn on Nil. I'm all about people getting paid, whatever, but my issue is that a free ride to a school is a pretty big deal financially already. If you take potential income, food, books, etc all into consideration a 4 yr scholarship to a good school is worth millions. My only qualm with all the nil stuff. Well that and turning off season into the NFL free agency. Giving kids this much coin at such a young age seems like a disaster in waiting on the education front. We have shown sports/money matters more than anything.

It would have been a really good idea that NIL money could have been banked in some sort of interest-bearing account that would be turned over to the athlete upon completion of college. Idk if it could have been legally done but I also know that some players are helping out families. It could have at least been given as an option and schools can educate about saving.
At least a percentage. Some of these guys aren't going to have an NFL career, and others very short ones.

We're just mad because he didn't turn out to be the 5 star we hoped. And the fact that Florida was his safety school. Kid did nothing to deserve the hate. Wish him all the best now that he's no longer a ****.
Yes except for the always dreamed about being a gator thing. But other than that, best of luck to him. He got a free education- something I couldn’t do.

You missed the earlier post by TOC who confirmed that was late in the cycle when Lingard new he was leaving Miami.

They handled things classy with no drama.

Absolute truth.

People have no idea how both Lorenzo and Avantae had UM in the lead early AND went through a TON of heavy-heavy recruiting from other schools. Both picked Miami in relatively quiet fashion (as far as informing UM) that did not make the other schools happy at all.

I wish that things had worked out better for both Lorenzo and Avantae on the football field. No need to slam those guys, or their families, or the people close to them who post on these boards.

If anyone has any questions or wants to know more, feel free to DM me.

For me, personally, I only rip on Gaytor fans for their 5-star obsession with Lorenzo, and the Avantae birthday cake. Other than that, I hope both Lorenzo and Avantae graduate and go on to success in life.

Speak for yourself. He was overrated when he arrived, left & now that he’s leaving the enemy. Looking like Tarzan playing like Jane isn’t hate. Just facts.

Always thought he was a great kid. Good luck

Yeah, we're all real torn up about LinLo.

The Office Reaction GIF

That dude is only talked about here because he dunked on this program on his way out the door and his collegiate career since has been one blunder after another. If we had a "State of Florida Non-Factor All-Team" roster going, Lingard wouldn't start on that team either.

Here’s my issue with your argument..there are also plenty of kids who get free rides academically including room and board without any outside obligations like practice and training taking away time AND they can go work or some even start companies using university incubator programs. And yes some of them also don’t manage their money well That happens.

let athletes make as much as market allows, you don’t hold back on that for everyone becsuse some can’t handle it Or be hypocritical vs full rides academically which most universities give out far more than athletic ones

I’m foggy about Tweed on CIS — was he getting into it with other posters? Or just hated on because the player he knew didn’t pan out?

You would think he would’ve atleast tried a different position by now like safety or linebacker or “striker” just to see if he has a little bit of potential to actually get on the field… at this point just hang it up.
Yeah like Goalie.

What's the issue with this guy? Why does he have such a hard time seeing the field, with his 5-star talent?
