Let’s be real, if we only have Lane for 3-4 years,
Replicating good hires like we did back then is extremely difficult and unlikely. I know a lot of lanes former players and they’re not huge fans of his, that right there is a red flag to me as well.

Lane would be a good splash hire but his defense scares me. Love the flashy offense he would bring but if we see a defense that is no better than Manny's, I don't think the honeymoon would last very long.

It's all good, I'm just trying to be honest. If too many people get too hyped about a guy that the BOT won't even offer, it's going to be "dark days" around here. Lane is a decent candidate, but it will be an uphill battle to convince the entire Board to hire him. It could happen, but let's not oversimplify this into just "if the job opens up".

Lane may want to come, but nobody has offered him yet. We shall see.

I'm not totally opposed to the guy, but please don't underestimate the risk/humiliation aversion discussion that will arise when many on the BOT are considering the possibility of paying him millions of dollars per year.

Too many people on this board want to make this all about wins or playcalling. More to it than that.

It might happen. But there is WAY too much irrational exuberance at this point.

Although I'd be for Lane coming, I think this is a good, informed take.
