Kurt Hester

He is a disciple of Tom Shaw - who is one of the most respected Speed Coaches in the US.

If you watch some of his videos he really focuses on position specific work. He has times for OL pulling into sprint, LB's shuffle to sprint, DB's Hip Flip to sprint etc.

He also uses Tri-Phasic training methods where you focus the 1st phase on longer eccentric times coupled with explosive Plyometrics. Then next phase you would pause at the bottom for time then explode up - followed by explosive plyometric. Third phase you would do regular concentric movements with plyometric. Then closer to the season you are focusing on specific strength and moving weights faster. I have used this method and it works amazing. Much better than the volume burn out workouts Felder brought from PSU.

Who is coveting him besides Miami? Serious question, not taking the ****, has he turned down a number of big-time programs in the last few years to remain at LaTech?
Who knows, he's coached at bigger programs before, and I believe he's in the strength and conditioning hall of fame as well as being a consultant.

Too many people focusing on being at LA Tech rather than looking at his total body of work with NFL, MLB, NBA etc. Plus his business was based in New Orleans so maybe he didn't want a "higher profile" job at the time. His resume is absolutely high profile. Great hire if/when it happens
Maybe he wants to expand his business to south florida. no better place to pick up side gigs training guys for the combine than down here if he is allowed to do that.

For people concerned about Hester. Just remember Cochran was a basketball S&C coach before he got to LSU. Also people forget that Georgia's current S&C coach came from Marshall.

He wanted to be down there. His family is down there and he is from the area. Based off his Twitter he is back to work with La Tech this morning.

When you olympic lift your become faster. It’s all about explosion. Canes will be fast and violent.
This is actually wrong. Olympic lifting is all about technique. You can become explosive in any type of lift depending on how you train.

So maxing out on your bench press is explosive? **** no. You are slow *** **** trying to press a ton of weight. Olympic lifting is a ton of technique but real athletes do powerclean and jerks etc..
