Keys to the game

football is an effort sport - exceed their effort...that's how you break a person's will.
sell out to stop the run - must make them one dimensional and don't go away from it...it's our best shot.

We need to win the psychological war today. Many of what is in this thread are potential ways that a winning path could take.

* Plant the seeds of doubt. The great teams of yesterday year would accomplish this getting off the bus, but that's Bama's roll so not going to happen today. It doesn't need to be rational, but we can look to our upswing in the 80s for the right kind of crazy.

* Let it grow. Match their physicality, do not back down. Winning early is a must due to depth and mindset.

* Dictate the tempo. The aggressor will win this game. Alabama is a machine designed to calmly steam roll. Make them play our game, show them something they haven't seen, and keep them from finding their exceptionally well disciplined groove.

* Don't give an inch, take a mile. Do not let them regroup, keep the intensity for 60 minutes. Have a short memory and keep shooting our shot.

Offense

- Be physical. Need to limit TFLs and second and longs. Donaldson and Rivers need to be difference-makers.

- Explosive plays. The signature of our offense is speed and big plays. Need to make them pay outside if they play us like Clemson. This is why we signed Rambo.

- Protect the ball.

Defense

- Gang tackle. We need to fly to the ball consistently.

- Be disciplined. Alabama has the size to wear us down, but the defense needs to at least be in the way. Can’t help Bama with huge chunk plays based on mentals (see Brossette’s long run in ‘18 LSU game).

- Finish the play. Near picks and near sacks won’t cut it.

Special teams

- Catch the ball on PR. We have new faces there and can’t make a mistake like Jeff Thomas in the Florida game.

Have to be in top of penalties, especially on offense too.

Guys better be willing to put their bodies in harms way and not make business decision - or it will be no different than UNC last year.

I expect this Bama team to want to run at this smaller Miami D and allow Bryce to get comfortable with easy plays.

On offense, Miami has to go for it. Marching the field with long, methodical drives probably won't work against the talent of that roster. Lashlee needs some chunk plays to keep that D on their heels.

Our d-line needs to hold against the run especially our d-tackles they are a strength and need to show it this game, and collapse the pocket but don't lose integrity, and Bryce is 6ft QB not the tallest so bat these balls in the air often

Our DTs have to come to play. That's where run defense starts. We have to show multiple looks cuz im sure they will adjust if we just sell out. And they have talent if not experience. We need to confuse the looks Bryce Young gets and play with insane speed.

Be smart. No dumb penalties like holding, offsides, targeting or unsportsmanlike conduct. There's no margin of error for self sabotaging today
All of this. Has been a killer for us. Zero margin for error against any team, let alone Alabama and Clemsons of the world.

Our LBs need to see ball get ball run 100mph and gang tackle or hold the guys up so the teammates rally to get the down to the ground, and our backers/ strikers need to use their speed and stuck with bamas backs and TEs at all times no excuses

Our secondary probably best position unit on team and they need to show it, more man coverage from corners and safeties will be critical, safeties clean up all tackles no excuses while our corners put the clamps on their receivers and make every catch contested while coming down with the int opportunities of the first start Bama QB

The few times they have lost the last 5 years they lost the turnover battle, had more penalty yards than their opponent, and gave up 130+ yards rushing. The only team that didn’t do those three things was Clemson in ‘16. We need everything to go well here to have a chance

You forgot one…score more points.

Just make the game ugly. Stuff the run and have the safeties alert for playaction pass. Keep it close and trust the 👑!

No penalties
Catch every single pass, no drops
No turnovers
Take their first punch and give one back, no bully or favorite to win likes this. It physically, mentally and emotionally shakes them.

Don’t sit back and let Young get comfortable. I’d much rather see someone get left on an island and get beat deep than have Young go 7-7 on a drive with underneath routes that leads to a score.

racking up early first downs and plays is huge. Cant be like last year vs Clemson where it was just one three out and after another.

Bama, for as formidable as they are, they wear down just like any other defense after a certain amount of plays

Agree. The ol is the one area with the biggest question marks. We’ll find out real fast where we stand. If we can’t block them the first drive we won’t block them the last drive. I want to see the ol be physical and at least get stalemates
Thats the only way we win. S&C hasbeen top notch for years now and this is the time to show its final results against the biggest and baddest. Bama will throw haymaker but we need to as well and not allow them to physically and mentally win
