Kevin Patrick - Big3R - Stretch of a stretch but

Is there any smoke with Patrick, or are we looking in another direction? Dude would be a dynamite hire.

kool thought he had the bucs job

Do you blame him for interviewing at the NFL level?? Is he just supposed to quit and cross his fingers after an interview? My point was Archer said "AND, that sorry SOB could have done this weeks earlier" He took the Alabama job, which opened up 2 weeks ago.

Anyone who honestly think Kevin Patrick's buyout is anything more than $1M, or even half that, is trippin. Dudes a ******* DL coach, he's not a HC or a Coordinator, or even and Associate HC or Assistant HC. Secondly what agent/lawyer would have his coach sign a contract that makes it financially impossible to go to a better job?

And by the way NCStates HC only has a buyout of $1.68M this year and it reduces to $840k next year. So seriously, anyone who believes Kevin Patrick's buyout is even 25% of his HC's would make his buyout <$500k. **** no way his buyout is even more than his actual salary for that year. And the $750k increase Doren got for his assistants also is used for the 10th assistant. The 10th assistant they hired was Associate HC/Co-DC Ted Roof who was DC for GTech. So No way in **** that doesn't cost at least $350k, and thats on the low end of what it likely was given Roof was making ******* $800k/yr at GTech. So that $750k gets reduced to $400k for the other 9 assistants to get a raise...So max Patricks contract would have increased is maybe $50k max pushing it to $400k.

Kevin Patrick at most is going to have a buyout <$400k. And **** we wouldn't even necessarily need to give him a raise - we're a better school, Miami is a better place to live, its his alma mater, and theres no state income tax in Florida, which will save him at least like $25k/yr from living in North Carolina. If we assume we give him a small raise and pay him $425k/yr and he had a buyout of $400k, that means it would cost us $2.9M/5yrs to get him - or essentially $580k/yr... Certainly in our price range

Basically, If Kevin Patrick is the guy we want, we'll get him.

If you're gonna do all that math why not factor in cost of living with 2 kids in Miami vs Raleigh?

100% unfortunately this is the downside to getting good again, staff attrition is gonna happen. IMHO just wish we still had Kool and surprised how much hate he got here

He got hate b/c he had one foot out the door which was evident by he wack **** recruiting. He got hate b/c multiple recruits on his unit said they hadn't heard from him and his lame excuse was I thought you were going to go elsewhere. THAT'S why he's receiving so much hate from us.

Good thing Nick Saban doesn't read this board he'd try to send him back.

I can't imagine he is making more money at his current spot than our former DL coach was making here. We could probably give a raise to him and still have some left over from the difference to spread out to keep others around.

Also don't know what our former DL coach had as a buyout or if it was enforced on him getting a new spot, but if he did have a buy out I am guessing it was also more than KPs.

Seems like the people worried about the numbers are not factoring in that a huge chunk just got freed up that was already allocated.

Patrick and Krein were two of the best DE's to ever play together at UM. Total intensity. Krein came in as a LB.

I don't even disagree.. It's just fun to question the validity of unknown "insider info".
I just happen to have knowledge of KP's situation at NC State. Again, a week ago and the discussion would be totally different.

God please NO. This is like Golden hiring Art Kehoe. Patrick has very little recruting chops, why in the world would we hire him after the diaster Kool was. Partridge all the way!
