Keondre Coburn 18 DT

Had a friend of mine who sat next to him and Coach Kul at Greenstreet Saturday morning. He got there as they were paying but he did overhear Coburn telling him that UT wants him to lineup on the edge more (maybe in a 3-4 scheme I guess) but he would like to primarily be in the trenches.

Take it for what it's worth, don't kill the messenger.

That's hilarious if true. When I look at Coburn, I don't see edge rusher. That guy is mean to plug up the middle.

I just looked it up, Todd Orlando (Texas' defensive coordinator) runs an odd front (3-3-5 or 3-4). So if Texas really is asking Coburn to be a defensive end in an odd front instead of a zero tech nose tackle, then Coburn must REALLY love Texas the school. Otherwise it makes no sense that he'd want to go there. That use of him in that scheme makes no sense at all.

It's simple, if he want to be comfortable and stay close to home he will stay with Texas. If he cares about being the best player he can be (4-3 defense) and being a higher draft pick he will come to Miami. No way his draft stock will end up higher with him play on the edge of a 3-4 defense.

By edge you mean linebacker? I'm not sure that what they are talking about when they said Edge. They want him to play over the Tackle in a 5 technique. In a not penetrating role and hold the point of attack. Traditional 3-4 principles.

Type of kid you have to take a hard swing at. Could end up surprising you, but don't brush him off just because he's in Texas late in the process.

I think he's talking about that 5-tech end position, it would be even more ridiculous to want him at LB lol. It seems cut & dry to me, he's either a nose in a 3-4 or a 1-tech in a 4-3. Dassit.

If kid doesn't see how thin we are depth wise on top of the A+ coaching (even though his crooting skills suck) he will receive to take to the NFL

Sorry, wreck. I can't agree with you when you state Kul sucks at recruiting. You are clueless. The state of Florida has only 2 DTs in the Top 40 nationally. Kul locked down the best, Nesta Silvera, early and has a good shot at the second one, Dennis Briggs. OOS, coach Kul has offered 8 of the top 10 DTs nationally. He's still in the hunt for #2 (Thompson) and #8 (Coburn). Both are from Kul's old stomping grounds; Thompson from Missouri and Coburn from Texas. Coach kul's fingerprints are all over those two beasts. Will he get them? We'll see, but the fact that coach Kul is competing for elite DTs in the state and on the national level sure blows holes in your condemnation of coach Kul's recruiting ability. I sure wouldn't want you in my foxhole.

Why was a quality control guy brought in to help Kul recruit?

Exploit the living **** out of this.

Between playing out of position and playing for the best DL coach in the country, we should have a punchers chance here.

Umm....

If anything in Orlando's front, he looks like he'd be an ideal nose? But they may be bringing in/already have others at the position and of their 300 pounders he may be the one most athletic to play end in their front? No idea

Dam straight JR! Just the fact that we are even in the convo is a step back up the ladder 4 us. I think it was Manny who said something like "we are ready to go ANYWHERE and up against ANYBODY for the top recruits".

Probably a free trip and he stays in-state but overtime we will hit on a couple of these especially if we continue our success.
