One example comes to mind every single time this type of thing comes up. About 10 years ago a little boy was murdered in Chicago by a gang member. His brother was in a rival gang so he took his life because he was an easy target. The young beautiful boy was dressed up in his little school uniform with his books the day they took him into an alley and killed him.

His mother was a piece of garbage druggy so his grandmother was watching over him doing the very best a person could do to make sure this little boy was on the right path. Can you imagine that grandmothers pain when this happened? Can you really imagine the pain? I personally can't because I would have gone nuts. I would have been hunting every single one of those gang members and killed as many as I could. None of these people should be allowed to exist in a civilized country. Every single time I talk about this I have tears in my eyes, this little boys pictures are burned in my brain until death. Nobody should be able to do this and breath again. Nobody should get away with jail time for doing the very worst things. JMO

A touch skeptical about these claims--hard to believe they are just being talked about now?

Regardless, a jury of his citizen peers pased judgment on the evidence presented. Not a perfect system, but arguably the best any society has to offer to date. Also very telling he didn't take the stand in his own defense. Spare the excuses for a Lifetime movie of the week--in real life when a defendant doesn't take that opportunity, it is 99% not the best look.

A tragic example of someone with great talent matched only by equally distasteful personal behaviors.

Get this man out of the gene pool ASAP.

Dont disagree at all. Hammurabi Codification of Laws (eye for eye) can be very appealing.

Abhorrent to others, but it is a deterrent and problem solver for sure.

I wouldn't excuse anything Winslow has done or is even accused of doing for a second but it wouldn't surprise me for a second if he was diddled as a kid. All this sounds a lot more like extreme deviancy that can result from that than the easy CTE excuse.

Never said I was perfect. I just can't stand scumbags who prey on others and I don't want to try to fix them. Get rid of the scum and there will be much less crime. Again, I have no sympathy for people who hurt others, no second chances in my book.

From his early years in Cleveland (2004-08), to his final NFL season in 2013 with the Jets, Winslow became known to co-workers as a compulsive *********er and pornography enthusiast, according to two teammates and three former team officials. He could count on having an empty seat next to him on any team flight, due to his ritual of watching hardcore pornography on his portable DVD player, according to those sources. During road games when the team stayed at a hotel and had a curfew, assistant coaches who performed bed checks reported on multiple occasions finding Winslow watching pornography. When pornography became widely available on mobile phones, he often watched it on his smartphone during meetings, the two former teammates said (nowadays, such sites would typically be blocked by the building WiFi). Teammates begged out of shared hotel room assignments with Winslow because he watched pornography and *********ed openly, with no regard for who was in the room, a teammate and an official said. Romeo Crennel, former Browns head coach, and former Browns assistant Terry Robiskie made efforts to mentor Winslow and impress upon him expectations of appropriate behavior, according to the officials, especially once Crennel became aware of a road-trip roommate’s pleas for a new assignment. The advice, apparently, didn’t get through. Later on in his career, after being sent to Tampa Bay via trade, Winslow acquired a life-sized silicone mold of a woman’s torso—complete with ****** and ****—to bring with him on road trips, according to one former assistant coach.

Sources who participated in this story are clear on this: When it came to actual women, Winslow was never accused of aggression during his time in the NFL. Though he bragged about cheating on his wife with one-night stands in new cities, and was known to spend entire offseasons on an accommodating teammate’s couch, partying and dating around, team officials said his behavior toward women could never be categorized as harassment or assault. “He was infantile, just very transparent,” said one official. “With Kellen, everybody knew what he was about: video games and f***ing.”

I stand corrected--was clearly confused...

"Former NFL player Kellen Winslow Jr. — the son of a Hall of Famer who himself earned more than $40 million during his career — has been convicted of raping a 58-year-old homeless woman last year in his picturesque beach community of Encinitas, north of San Diego.

A jury returned the verdict Monday in San Diego Superior Court in Vista but was expected to continue to deliberating on two more counts of rape involving a 54-year-old hitchhiker and an unconscious teenage girl in 2003.

The jury also found the 35-year-old former tight end guilty of indecent exposure and lewd conduct involving two other women, but jurors found him not guilty of one count of a lewd act."
