Justin Fuente fired at Va Tech

I hope they get a good coach. I hope we get a good coach. Tired of this sorry *** ACC. Football was fun when games mattered. It's currently the most irrelevant conference in football. Of course we have never mattered while in the ACC but that's not the conference fault. It's ours.
To be fair, the last 11 NC's have come from only two conferences. ACC with 3, SEC with 8. I mean sure, Clemson has carried the bulk of the load, but that is more than every other conference. Us getting back remotely close to what we used to be puts the conference up to Number 2 immediately.
To your point, us and VT get back, it is a **** good conference when you also have solid middle of the road teams like UNC, NC State, Pitt...........

They were incensed that he was let go : argument is he did much good while he was AD, including athlete academics, fundraising, leadership roles within ACC committees, including chairmanship of a couple, They also went off a bit on the fan base about the perception that changes like this will "bring back" the good old days..... It was mainly Wes Durham - he seemed really angry. Packer was more understanding that football drives these kind of decisions
I will continue to not watch their show based on this complete cluelessness. I don’t hate Blake James but one cannot look at Miami sports right now and think the AD is doing a great job. I can understand it being better than us crazy fans think, but the Diaz situation and the last few weeks with Blake is enough to tip the scales for new blood.

LOL at Adam Rittenburg right now.... Parroting the same "miami can't afford Cristobal" story. Or "maybe they can scrape it up if they can land him"

He's also talking about how boosters drive coaching hires these days. It's all about winning.

C’mon it’s only two weeks. Plus the kids who are usually ambivalent about their play and have zero interest in impressing NFL scouts are playing SO HARD for him. Also, it sends a strong message to all the qualified candidates who have some concerns about how serious we are about football know we mean business by keeping a lame duck coach to save on a buyout when everyone else has already shît canned their loser coach.
13 days.
But who's counting?

This has been coming for weeks. I wouldn't be surprised if they already negotiated a lesser buy out. Fuentes has looked and spoken like a beaten man for at least a month.

This is the nickel and diming I’m talking about with waiting on Mario. Isn’t the difference in buyout roughly the same? (I know he’s making a playoff run)

Expected but strange timing, they clearly don’t want to be left behind the coaching carousel.

And this is why we should’ve fired Manny weeks ago.
Just because Manny hasn't been fired yet doesn't mean contact with potential replacements hasn't happened. Any good candidate would currently be coaching anyway, so we wouldn't officially hire them until the season is over.

Ohio State won in 2014.
